We just lost a police officer here at my local PD. He died last week after a battle with cancer.
44 years old. Leaves behind a wife and kids. Was well liked by his colleagues and respected by his superior officers.
Then news today , we lost another officer , same department.
37 years old. Took his own life. Had a pending divorce and some other issues. Leaves behind a wife and kids. Very sad.
Our first responders have a VERY tough job. High divorce rates. High suicide rates. High alcoholism rates.
Not an easy job by any means.
Thank the next police officer/LEO you see for the job they do.

I put first responders right up there with military. Maybe that's wrong of me, but that's how I feel. My step dad was LE for a great many years. I hope those families can find peace.
Act like a blank, get treated like a blank. Insert your own blank!

Most people would be surprised at how many first responders are ALSO the military. Past or present. Many women and men doing both. They are treated with open arms with one uniform on and spit on with the other uniform....Same person...same values.

yes , please do they are under a lot of stress , so many new restrictions and reports piled on the in the last 18 months , I was just talking with a friend who has 27 years in , he said it looks nothing like it did when he started. so so much has changed.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Heck I would bet the average metropolitan cop has more potentially dangerous interactions on a regular basis than the average service member does in the last 5 years.
