When you guys clean up the wet mudball coons how do you guys do it, a washer and dryer isn’t an option for me.

5 gallon bucket of water. If mama isn't home then the bathtub works great.

Skin and hang to dry. Mostly dry is good enough. Then throw them in the fur tumbler for 15-20 minutes. (Fur tumbler is an old clothes dryer converted for the purpose)

What Drifter said worked for me. Often skinned coon the day after they were caught. Gave them time to dry if needed. Never a problem.

I just rinse them out in whatever water I caught them by. Once they dry comb them out really well, and they'll be good enough.

If you have a catch pole, right after dispatch find a creek and dip several times. By the time you get to your shed they have drained some, then you can skin and snap like a gym towel several times. If they're not dry enough by then, let hang by nose with a fan for awhile.

1940’s Montgomery Ward wringer washer. I’ll put it up against any modern washer. Agitates like Moses parting the Red Sea

Good advice, keep an eye out for those old wringer tub washers. You can keep them outside, drain them off outside, squeeze off excess and shake and snap and hang to dry.
Add a bit of dawn dish soap to the mixture.

Never skin them wet, way to hard to get dry. Like said hang them with a fan, I’ll add, Hang by both front feet works best, comb the fur down to the tail. Gravity will pull 80 to 90 % of the water out of the fur. Skin the next day or night. Easy peazy!

Most times when wet and muddy there was water nearby and I would slosh in the water right after dispatch. Amazing how much they will dry with the coon still warm. When that was not possible, the 5-6 gallon pail was used and then I used my big wet/dry shop vac and that would take out a lot of water and lift the fur as well, then onto the fans. I lay my wet rats, mink and coons on my coon cage traps and I have air going above and below and from two directions. Rats and mink dry fast, coons a bit longer.

This is the year to toss them in the ditch and drive away like it never happened.

Instruction from a KS CO border trapper I am passing along as its good advice

Why clog up more, an already over produced commodity? If you want to trap then trap, but dont dump more into a glutted market.

Have you not been paying attention? They don't do it for the money, hence there won't be any for years. We are dinosaurs. Probably, the one percenters.

I got a better average on my coon then I did on my coyotes.

To remove water from a hide when It's been washed just get out the air compressor and blow out all the water. They will be dry and ready to skin In a few hours. I do that with all my rats It gets out the water and fluffs up the fur.
