Yes people are capitalizing on the market. Corn fed and aged beef is much better IMO. When I want lean meat I eat venison. i buy elk meat from a local elk farm. Buy buffalo the same way. Grass fed and no grain is edible but not near as good, again IMO, as venison, elk or buffalo.

The grocery store where we buy some of our meat makes a big deal by putting "grass fed" on their labels.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Grass fed and no grain is edible but not near as good, again IMO, as venison, elk or buffalo. I cant say I have ever had grass fed beef. In fact I have not had any beef in years, its hard to pass up free grass fed moose and the meat is much better. The reason they want grass fed is no grains at all for the animal. Lectins in it are natural bug poision in plants and grains, vegies and seeds. Not good for humans guts. https://www.youtube.com/c/JustaFewAcresFarmhere is a guy who is doing just what you said, hes pretty entertaining too. Buy locally grown by small operators, eliminate the middlemen and get a better quality product and help your local economy. . Good advice.

i like moose. pretty expensive though when you live in ks. i killed one in 98. i could live on it. i could live on elk as well. its higher than beef too. a live cow elk is 3 dollars a pound live weight. i never asked about buying a whole buffalo. i like it but i get tired of it pretty quick.

Advertising beef as "grass fed" plays to city folk that don't know squat about good beef.I raised my own for years,,along with my own pigs and chickens.Good beef has been grain finished.

We sell pasture poultry and free range eggs. Prices change according to feed cost but eggs $4 doz and chicken was $ 4.50 per lb.
As far as grass fed beef i dont have the fence for cows up yet but that what i plan to do. Cows are not made to eat much grain and it causes them to have stomic issues and fart more. But cows dont complain they like the desert first like kids. Grass feed is very lean but meat lockers are federally inspected so they must be able to cool the biggest fatest cow down fast enough to pass inspection. So a lean small cow cools to fast and that can make them tough. Same as not letting chickens rest 24-48 hrs before freezing them will make them tough.
Also just like everythig else all producers are not the same neither is qualiety. Most people like fat meat my family does not.

What's always disappointed me with the grass fed/natural beef movement is that in order to get the consumer's attention . The people trying to sell a overpriced product have relentlessly attacked main stream beef production . I agree that there are benefits to grass fed . But does it out way conventional ? . I believe a educated consumer can decide that for themself without being constantly told how the other is bad . Having the grass fed/natural community continually bad mouthing conventional beef in order to sell a overpriced product into a nich market just causes division in the industry .
FYI - With the amount of mark-up on grass fed/natural there's a fair amount of untruthfulness that goes on . Buyer Beware
I'd Rather Try And Fail Then Not Try And Succeed
