Considering the gloom and doom attitude towards the fur market right now I'd say you folks did pretty well

Im the eternal pessimist and thought averages would be lower than that.

Not bad since a lot of guys around here are throwing in the towel because they can't make any money trapping. I am not saying anyone is going to get rich trapping but I know I covered well over my expenses so far

That makes the Beaver average with castor all in, over $25 or there about., maybe more? $3.70 average for fall rats was pretty good, looks like most everything sold and did reasonably well. (to market condition).

I could trap and make more money than expenses, however that is not how you decide if you are making money. You have to divide that amount over expenses ( profit) by the number of hours of labor you have invested. If that amount per hour is not better than your other job opportunities ( which some include benefits) than you are not really making money, you are losing money.

My land line didn't pay for gas. Tossed 2 coyotes yesterday I'm not skinning $2.00 coyotes.

I hope you realize that fur trapping for a living is not gonna happen again in our lifetime. You should come on over to the "mostly hobby" side with most others on Tman. It's a lot less stressful.

I'm making a living trapping this year, when combined with the mushroom business. Time and expense is minimal as most of that is covered by mushroom profit. Similar to your ADC money then add your terrible raw fur prices. Most of my fur is not sold as raw fur, except for marten. Been that way for 30 years. I don't find trapping all that enjoyable, so it would not be chosen as a hobby. Thanks for the offer.
