We buy the victor mouse traps by the case a few times a year. Simple device but very effective in the right hands. Big yellow pan types are our favorites also.
I use the mouse traps many times without bait or lure. I just use them as a trail set by just placing them on established travel ways butted up against a wall, beam or other barrier.
Same here Bob, most of my sets are blind sets up against a vertical structure. When I do bait I will use peanut butter or hot melt glue sunflower seeds to the pan. All deadly. For attics or crawl spaces I use the mousinator 2000. Lol
I'm itchin' to see a coyote twitchin'.

Those boards are killer if you can get a spot big enough to put them in, for bait I prefer a piping bag filled with peanut butter it makes it easy to get in all the cracks but sometimes it makes a bit of a mess.

Victor 8s the way to go with mouse traps, the cheap ones are for one time use if they stay set. Snakes are best three went in a machine shed this summer I think its still mouse free.
The use of small pieces of fiber fill or yarn glued onto the pan works well at times. Mice are opportunists when it comes to foraging for nesting materials. I have used that set up many times with blind trail sets and some baited sets as needed.Every now and then I will place a glue board in between snap traps if I feel I may have some mice jumping over some traps. We use our own commercial rodent bait and a originally designed coon bait that was found to attract mice/rats/
This trap is awesome! China is ripping off the Americans who designed and are selling this trap... Please buy the one, Made in the USA, if at all possible.

The Victor traps with big pans. If it isn't freezing a 5 gallon bucket built with a pinning bottle at the top baited with peanut butter and a gallon of water in the bucket.
If it’s below freezing I just use a gallon of windshield washer fluid instead of water. A five gallon bucket with a spinning 20oz bottle with peanut butter and bird seed stuck to it works forever
We switched to melted chocolate chips when they were able to lick off the peanut butter and cheese. They all were caught quickly and the bait stays good for a long time. I’ve read you can use tootsie rolls too. Chew a quarter inch till soft and press onto the trigger. They love chocolate.
