The bill made it out of Repub. House public policy committee, going to full house for vote. If this bill becomes law it would allow any Ind. citizen to carry a firearm without a license or permit In the state.
Still one of the most free states in the nation. Case

I hope your state will join the ranks of the states that are more 2A friendly. Still a long way to go, but its a good start for all of us.
Let's go Brandon
"Shall not comply" with morons who don't understand "shall not infringe."

Its not freedom without lock downs, liciensing and restriction acording to some of our far north friends. Becuse they know those are freedom chains. Lol
I had not heard about this is it for open carry and cc? Has no impact on me with my lifetime license but its a good move twards more freedom. I wonder if includs all indiana people or just those not restricted by the feds. I like when states filp off the feds as they are with the drug laws.

Good news.
I wish the supremes would do their job and say "Shall Not Be Infringed".

Yes, I have high hopes. Been lobbying my Rep. and Senator. Didn't go last year but the year before on our way to outer banks, stopped in Tenn. for gas saw a fellow filling up was open carrying a 1911a1. We can open carry but I don't know all local laws or ordinances when we travel so I had my EDC under a shirt. Was glad to see another state true to our inalienable rights. Keep up the fight. Case

Farm as you know Ind. does not issue a cc permit, just a license to carry, you can put it on your head if you want. The only prob. with this is you can cause a panic when the local soccer mom sees you in the grocery. And that is illegal. Creating a pub. nuisance. That is why most veteran heeled Hoosiers carry concealed. The fellows you see carrying open here are mostly young new permit holders that want everyone to know they are heeled. And yes you are still confined by Fed.law. The new law says anybody that is legally able to purchase a gun, and as you know that means a 4473. Hope this gives you some clarification, and please contact your state sen. n rep. tell them your thoughts. It's only passed out of committee, still must go to full house.

Not every citizen would be allowed to carry a handgun, though... convicted felons and such would still not be able to carry a gun.
I think our liberal, Republican Indiana governor opposes the bill, though. Not sure he has the guts to veto it, though.

Kart29 Every citizen that is legally Abel to buy a gun (long arm, pistol, pop, squirt. BB) will be able to carry it. Yes, this excludes felons, domestic violence offenders, mentally disabled, and some others ordered by the courts to not possess firearms.
As too Holcomb I think he relies on the Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, who currently oversees all permitting of carrying guns. For advice, And he (the supper.) is against the measure.

A 4473 is not required except from a dealer. Just saying I was at the Poliece dep when they opened for printing on my 18th b-day. Had a pink paper in my billfold since. It was expired 2 years once before i noticed. But once they offered lifetime i went with that. Consealed is the only way to to go. OK, I realize you can buy a gun privately, no 4473, but are you saying Indiana now has two licenses a "concealed carry" and a "license to carry." They only issue one. See ic: 47-35-2, (that's Indiana Code, 47-35-2) if memory serves me correctly. I still have my pink lifer in my creds. carrier. From the first year they offered them. You cannot carry a handgun until you are 21. I have carried a gun every day of my life since Nov. 11th 1969. And still had to wait till my 21st birthday to legally carry a side arm. I think I'm misunderstanding your post or you mine don't know which. But unless they have changed the laws that I am aware of, that's the way it is. Look at your permit and let me know if you see the words concealed carry on it any where. If I am mistaken I'll offer my apologies and by you a beer.

it is a trend in several states and it has come with no major issues that I have heard of , people who weren't a problem before aren't a problem after permit-less carry takes effect.
and for all the times we had to hear "oh the blood will run in the streets" just to find it couldn't be farther from the truth.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I remember when the old I think NRA magazine used to have a column in the back that reported the good deeds done by lawfully carried firearms by folks. Don't think they still do that.
There is a fellow from Florida that has done some impressive research about armed citizens, Gary Kleck, Gleck, something like that. He is or was a professor at one of there university's I think.
