I sure hope that the wardens were able to distribute the crappie to needy families.

if they give to someone else, wheres the evidence when they get to court?

P.S. How do you know that the two people who caught them don't have "needy" families? Maybe they dont want to live on foodstamps?

Might just be scum, but how do you know?

I would imagine, by the accompanying picture, that they were caught on the lake with the fish.

Also if they had needy families they were trying to help it isn't too bright of them to go out and catch them all in one trip.

I don't know about there but in the courts here, they just take a picture of the fish and that is acceptable to the judge as long as the picture is good enough to tell species. If the fish are still alive they are returned to the water.

I know of more than one instance of a CO ignoring a violation when the person was truly in need but I also know there are a lot of instances where that excuse is used to try to get out of a violation. The most extreme example that I am aware of is the fella who was "on a fixed income and was just trying to feed his family" was driving a brand new F150 Lariat package pick-up and fishing out of a brand new Ranger bass boat.

I don't know about the fine structure there but here it is 100 dollars for the violation plus 50 dollars for each fish over the limit so that would be about a 6500 dollar violation after court costs plus a violation that was that egregious would almost certainly result in suspension of hunting amd fishing privileges as well.

They should have made them clean every one of them and then seized them

There was a case last year or 2 where they got some guys from up north that had way more over their limit but had been fishing all week. I would bet the poachers in this case were not locals either and if they were I bet they were selling fish, not feeding their "needy" families.

Daily limit is 30 per person. When the dnr rolled up and saw the big pile, it was over. Lol.

When you get on fish like that, some folks just get a bit greedy. I expect that's probably what happened. They rolled the dice and got caught. Now if those folks would have been Hispanic they would have likely walked.

This is my backyard. I live 5 minutes from enid lake. I'll also point out that pretty much every fish in that photo is also under the length limit. The length limit on Crappie in Enid lake is 12". This is the first I have heard about this but I'll post back here again if I find out anything else about it.

The feeding the family thing danny is kind of spotty. We have tons of large bluegill in that lake and everywhere with a limit of 100 a day. No limit if you fish in someone's pond. Also no limit in that lake on catfish. Plenty of fish they could have fed their families with.

I'd love to fish Big bluegills in the South someday

I'm gonna bet scum. They knew it was wrong but did it anyway. They'd probably fillet about 20, decide it was too much work and throw the rest away.

I dont know why you would want to eat that many crappies, lol, let alone freeze them up and have to eat them later.

Because they don’t have walleye.

Let one person do it then they have to let everyone do it. Bluegill is just as good as crappie anyway. They should have known better. Do the crime do the time.
