I'll never trap on my own in IL, move in 3yrs. Willing and wanting to learn it all, from sets to hide prep. Just wanting to learn the skill before we end up in forever home, somewhere in the rockies. Maybe go to the trappers college with FTA, if that is feasible. Also coon creek outdoors has great videos on YouTube about skinning and putting up critters. Also, take a trappers education course, I personally recommend an in-person class. The archives also has a ton of information. Who is John Galt? I am a beginner too, I would also recommend to buy some older trapping books as they have some great knowledge in them, and if you are ever in a place without internet or power, you can still indulge yourself on some material. Feel free to contact me for those in the area. not much for trapping opportunities in May , Join the state association , take the state trapper ed and attend the the Rondys and conventions. what brings you to the ILL state? where are you moving from ? what part of the ILL state will you be in ? America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
