Anyone else ever smell trap wax and had it smell like urine or some kinda lure ?

No. Unless you're meaning on a contaminated trap. All wax I've ever had or used smelled like wax. Of course I have never stored with lure, which might cause it to have an odor.

Yes after a improperly cleaned trap that caught a skunk was waxed
That's what I had happen

I have never waxed.
The salt rusts your traps some then.
I wrap the traps in saran wrap in the snow though.

After trapping is over i take the traps to car wash i wash them good.Then take home let air out then wax.then put in small building for summer. I have done this way for years just the way i do it.
I think the wax helps.

I quit waxing traps several years ago. I did it for 3-4 years but seemed to have better luck with traps that were just dyed, mostly to clean them.

Water traps that are waxed are great IMO but its not for me on land traps.
