A well taken care of 1999 7.3 Powerstroke engine with normal use and good maintenance is good for about how many miles?

We’ve had some get 300,000 and still work like they always have. The bodies are more the issue in the snow belt.

A close friend of mine had 457000 on his 99 six speed manual. I know it was still running this past summer as a farm truck, but not sure how many are on it now. The body was pretty bad when he sold it but the new owner put a metal flat bed on it.

He didn’t hesitate to take it on long trips even with the higher mileage he went from WV to Colorado, Wyoming, and/or Montana almost every year

Never touched a 7.3 tranny but did have a torque converter replace under warranty.

I've got a 7.3 with a 6 speed. It has just under 150,000 miles. F250 Superduty. It has power steering. Everything else is manual. Windows, door locks. It'll beat you to death without a load on it. The only rust is where the paint is scratched. Vehicles don't rust in Fairbanks. Thinking about selling it. What's it worth in today's market with a clean title?

500k+ as long as you fix things as they come up. I do not think you will need a transmission rebuild at all, the auto and manual transmissions are excellent in those. The most common things for that year are definitely injectors, o-rings on some of the HPOP stuff, and if you have a manual transmission, you likely will need to upgrade the fork at some point. No matter the case, check out FTE, you can see the posts by the engineer who designed the auto transmissions in that time frame as well as the next gen, and lots of good info. White Bear Lake Ford for all your parts, they are 10% over cost, cheapest in the country I can almost assure you. Rock Auto at various times will have just a few things that beat the price, but I have been ordering from there for 10+ years now.

I also would recommend a 6.0 over the 7.3 though for a lot of different reasons, but the main one is much more power, and all of the issues i'm sure people are about to chime in on have been fixed. My 2004 F350 CCLB 6.0 6 speed manual has 244k engine and transmission all OG, just replaced the rear 2 brake calipers and front brakes. Ford made them again, so to get a new caliper with pads for 75 bucks is a steal to me!

I have a "2000" F-250, Lariat, 7.3 Diesel extended cab with 351K+ miles. Here in NW Colorado we generally don't see rust, ever. Still tows a 4-horse trailer, loaded up the divide without breathing hard, runs great and gets 17 miles per gallon, have not had a problem with it ever, I maintain them well, So I'd guess it could go 500K. Bought it new in Oct. of "99". Book value of this truck today is about $7K, but they sell for more.

We have a 2000 Excursion with 7.3. Has 320k and we don’t hesitate to take it anywhere. Last year it took us to Rocky Mountains and Louisiana, parked two blocks off of bourbon street lol. Usually made three or four runs to Canada a year before Covid. Haven’t done anything major to motor or trans. I use rotella T6 synthetic oil.

I have a 05 6.0. I had the egr delete done, my diesel mechanic said everyone wants the 6.0 now because they are easy to bullet proof. He also said if I dont chip mine, which I didn't I shouldn't have any major problems. I've had good luck so far beside rust, been driving it now 17 years, Midwest idwest is hard on vehicles

They'll last basically forever. 200k is just broken in. Keep up with maintenance and you'll get a good long life out of it.

We have an 01excursion with 394k last time I checked. Still does all I ask of it. Pulles anything 8 hook it to. Replaced basic parte that wore out breaks, u joints, calipers, ect. Not had a major problem yet. It could use injectors, and the power stearing sucks it uou are in a tight spot.

The shop i had put a new motor in my ranger told me it cost 10k to rebuild a 7.3. Still cheaper than a new one at 70k.

Most likely i will be buying another one 3/4 ton or bigget for a farm truck. Maybe a 450 or 550 they seem to be cgeaper than the smaller one due to less demand.
