One of my favorite parts of trapping season is trying new lures and baits. This year I ran my standard favorites but I also leaned very heavy on Kegs Creek. I relied heavier on KCBL than I do normal brands. Marty is in my home state, an hour away, and a number of reviews were really very positive. So I took the gamble. I absolutely don't regret it at all. My son and I had personal bests on both coyote and bobcat this year by a large margin. Not only that, we stopped at Marty's place and picked up a few more the last week of December for a cold rolling trip down to Missouri. We nailed them there too. We didn't score on every product we bought from him but the one's that did produce, produced over and over for us. 95% of our efforts were directed at coyote and a modest 5% effort or so at catching our bobcat quota. I'll share what worked for us and feel that it is best to not share what didn't. My reasoning for that is because you may find different results in your area and using your style of trapping. Additionally, I didn't use everything in his arsenal either. The ones listed below caught fur throughout the season and as crazy as it may sound, I believe his lures made me a better trapper. I feel this way because they made me think about the critters we were after and I had to devise a methodology and approach that keyed in on some coyote evolutionary traits. That might sound crazy or sound like I'm trying to throw some big words around but that is not my intent at all. The right lure at the right time conveys the message that you are trying to present with the construction of each set. Kegs Creek-Marty Smith has the answer.
Roy Nelson's Bait LDC Super Call 1-11 Decoy Fox Gland Coyote Gland Bobcat Gland Super 21 Eight Ball Pacific Call Sierra Call
Disclaimer: I have never had a face to face or phone call conversation with Marty. When we stopped at his place, he had just left for Kansas that morning and we ended up being helped by the Mrs. A purely unsolicited plug with zero expectations or hope of anything in return. Yes, I think they are that good.

I mostly use Marty’s and John Graham’s baits and lures, and I always have excellent results. I have talked to Marty a couple times at conventions and he is the real deal. He has given me some helpful advice a time or two.

His Slayer is really good for late season flat sets. His SS has been my most constant food/curiosity scent for 4 seasons.

I was told there was a thread on here about our products. Thanks for the Good words, Julie and I try to treat everyone like how we like to be treated. All of my product are tested for years before labeled to sell and from all corners and in between in the United States. Thanks Again! Thanks for coming on here and commenting. I like to see this and will try some of your lures.

Marty sent me some wiplash Knowing I'm not a bait guy. Trapped a beautiful blond phase yesterday that dug down thru 8 inches of crusted snow to get at it. I guess i'm a bait guy now LOL.. I put it to work for 7 checks, so far 5 coyotes. All the sets were wiplash only, no urine or lure added. Dangit Marty LOL

I've talked to Marty a couple of different times at various conventions. A real stand up guy and very helpful. I've tried 4 or 5 of his baits, they just didn't work for me. That being said, I've used several other baits from some of the heavyweights with the same results. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for all. I'll definitely try his stuff again. I am trying bill nelson predator bait and 111 decoy, no luck yet. Customer service is great.

Whiplash what kind of voodoo is that?? Lol It's amazing the lure Marty puts out some good some are on to greatness some well ,,, just plain work. You guys that got cats should try his cat lure he doesn't push it much but they stand alone cat lures. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2022/02/full-42823-126849-20220118_194224.jpg)

Like others have said, lures and baits get different reactions depending on your country and how it’s presented. That being said, Marty’s horse based bait has out performed every other bait I’ve tried in my area. For some reason, I just don’t get as good a reaction on cat based stuff around here.
Marty, what’s the story on whiplash and where are you getting the good urine lol.
Marty and Julie are sure good people.

I keep detailed records on sets and can say that Marty makes some effective lures. I have bought the following lures from him and all have been used with success over the last 2 years: Coyote Gland, Fox Gland, S.S., 1-11 Decoy and Lobo.
I also have used his coyote urine and bait solution and both are of excellent quality.
I have ordered both his LDC and Eight Ball lures for this year as a change up on many of the farms I trap...
Sit with warriors. The conversation is different.

Marty rocks.
I caught a lot of coyotes on his showtime. Got the tip from a friend a few years back and it’s a great bait. Wouldn’t set without it.

VERY GOOD coyote urine. Sent me some lure and bait to try as well. Was good. But im a flat set guy Can you elaborate on what you mean by that? Are there specific types of lure only that you'll use for your flat sets?

Are there specific types of lure only that you'll use for your flat sets? Not really. It depends on to many thing to type out. But the basic is = i dont use bait. I believe a dirt hole is a = educational tool to coyotes. When you trap a place for 10 years plus. WHY dig holes. Natural is best. To me. Use = food lure. If i want bait and time of year is right

Secret to a good dirt hole is a really good bait or lure. If you don't know of one flat sets will also work. This!

Just got in. Some of us have to work for a living. Set 2 traps. LOL! WHY do I have to dig a hole to use bait??? Put in a brushy bush. Smear it under a rock and so on. In my areas. A dirt hole is UNNATURAL and causes suspension … smear it on bush… put it under a rock… dig a 2 second hole and put it in there … whatever …you’ll still catch them if you got a good trap bedded right…coyotes are dumber than cross eyed mescins and educated yankees lol
Insert profound nonsense here
