I use propane as my back up.Nice heat plus you have heat still with a power outage.

Why is propane so expensive in the States but gas is cheap?

It's my backup also to my wood supply. I only use propane if I let the fire. die at night or go away for a few. Hard to beat wood heat.

Jp gas is alot higher than propane here.

2.29? That's cheap. My buddy at work just paid 4.99 per gallon yesterday he got his 100lb tank filled for 500$.

Cheap enough for me,I'm not complaining. Small tanks pay more per gallon than large tanks. Hate to think what I would pay for my trap torch tank

because if they Raped you as bad on LP as they do on gas , there would be a revolt , but since they only rape you hard on the gas you don't drive to the capitol to burn it down and stay in your warm home.

JP your absolutly right it should be a comodity price based on a barrel of crude and some transport and refinment cost , btu so many places have so much tax built in

they count on most of your country men not doing the math to figure out your paying 6.29 a gallon because you buy it by the liter

lp , natural gas crude are coming out of Western Canada in large amounts but you don't see the price benefit of a local resource when they can get more for it on a ship sent over the ocean to a place that uses a lot and produces none.

Our last fill still 2.00 same as last winter, small supplier, he's also the seed salesman that sells to the guys that dry there own grain. I think that enters into his prices.

We pre-paid for $2,000 worth of propane this fall when it was $1.79 a gallon. It will last us all winter easily.

A 100 pound cylinder will only hold 23.6 gallons. At 4.99 per gallon that would be $117.76

Propane is sold by the gallon here in the states. A gallon is roughly a little over 4lbs, if your paying $1.45/pound that would be $5.80/gal vs the original posters 2.29/gal sounds cheap to me.
