I guess I have about a million squirrels in my yard. They chew through anything wood or plastic like locusts on crops. My sauna, tool shed, quail pens, and even my attached garage are being targeted.
My acreage is rapidly being surrounded by new housing units, meaning my standard control method is too loud, and would alert my new neighbors to call 911.
I've ordered a couple Ouell squirrel traps; two sizes to handle gray and reds. These are tube type lethal traps, that I hope work better than the snares that I have been using.
Does anyone have any experience with these? I know they seem overpriced, so hopefully that means popular or effective.

Use a news paper delivery tube/box. Use a 120 in it after you cut slits to hold the trap . You can bend the trigger almost flat , ad a pan , either metal and spot welded , or thin wood stapled to the trigger wires . Be sure to cut the slots for the springs so the trap sits high enough for the dog to release . Use salted peanuts , with a few outside the tube . You can use a cage trap using the same bait, adding some weight to the pan to make it trip with a light weight squirrel . I wouldn't waste my time with the smaller cage traps , go with at least a 12 x 12 inch opening . I have tried the smaller cage traps , but they seem to go in the bigger ones a lot faster and without hesitation .

I probably will. They just don't set that well in structures without some containment. Most likely I'll be making up something similar to what Ohio Wolverine is describing. Too bulky to carry around, and I don't have the time to sit around sniping 'em. if i could find a decent C0 2 pistol, i'd be all over it. Use a news paper delivery tube/box. The body grip in a tube is pretty much what these Ouell's are based upon. And I do plan to make up a bunch after getting started with the purchased units. No cages for me, though. They're just too cumbersome for my taste.

I would try the quell trap if they weren't so expensive Ditto. I did buy one in each size, just to try; but, I sure can't justify the cost for enough to take care of my problem.

What about a weasel type box? Maybe a hole & trap on each end.

You might want to look at a squirrelanator trap. It's a repeating live catch trap. You can check them out on you tube. I was going to say: if there was only some kind of colony live trap... i'll check it out. Done! One Squirrelanator on order. What about a weasel type box? Maybe a hole & trap on each end. It wouldn't even need the holes. These things would chew their own.

Actor that is 20 bucks cheaper than manufacturer or Amazon. No Rural Kings around here, though.
I take that back. Yours includes the basin, which i assume is a drowning tub. Now we are talking 40 bucks cheaper.

Guess what?
Rural King sells on-line.
42 bucks for basic Squirrelinator. I now have another two coming.
