Figured the other gun nuts would find this interesting. Very similar to the syrain Zagros rifles

if it is a smooth bore 50 , why even bother putting an optic on it ? crude sights should be enough

have you seen the FGC9
the indo Chinese rebel groups have come up or figured out how to simplify an etched rifling it is a wooden rod that has wires embedded the wires contact the barrel surface on the inside and with an electrolysis process done in a solution the barrel is both rifled and hardened some

They can flute the barrels, machine the chambers accurately enough that the casings don't expand and stick, but they can't rifle the barrels. I've seen colonial re-enactors rifle barrels with some pretty crude equipment. Not sure I'm buying the whole story or maybe the photos don't show the guns the story is talking about.

So South America can practically replicate any commercial firearm for function and looks. The material won't be the same, and it of course won't have the same type of reliability. This is where a lot of these groups get these firearms, and why they are so cheap.

Also for smooth bore rifles, you only need a small rifled section at the end to stabilize the projectile. The Russians came out with .366 TKM, for you shotgun guys I think it's called a paradox choke, could be wrong don't quote me same principle though.

I don’t buy it there are guys in the Philippines that make pistols by hand including rifling the barrel and when their done you would have to look close to see it wasn’t a factory made colt or S&W and these guys can’t even do it, heck I am not a gun smith but bet I could do so with a few simple tools, it might not be as good as what comes out of A established gun make but I bet it would be serviceable

If you can build a rifle from scrap parts, you should also be able to come up with a rifling tool. That being said. I couldn’t build a barn with legos.

yes but the .366 TKM is to get around the regulations in Russia they have a 5 year gun license as I understand it , you may only have a smooth bore for your first 5 years

but it is Russia and what do they have piles and piles of , parts for AKs so the 366 tkm or 9.5x39 an almost strait wall but some what tapered case similar to 350 legend after 5 years you can get a rifle license and get a rifled barrel.

birds , hare and large game at short range for your first 5 years then longer range when you get your rifle license

https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog...shotgun-round-366-tkm-for-sks-ak-rifles/

as for short rifled section at the end of the barrel I have a rifled choke for my 870 it works to spin a foster slug to better stabilize it , it isn't making it a long range tool by any means but cut the group size.

I don't know if the Russians have that or not

In that bottom photo it appears as though the
'scope 'is not aligned with the center line of the bore. Maybe just camera angle
