"I figured you might have the 570, they seem more popular. I haven't had problems with the motor on mine, but the Diamond Drive has had issues, and with only 6500 miles I've replaced all the bogie wheels, some twice, tie rod ends, secondary clutch, kill switch, starter, broke shocks on it twice and replaced two A-arms, as well as other miscellanous small stuff I can't recall. And the track is about shot already. It seems to be just a constant breakdown, and the electrical/computer system on it isn't great either, constantly throwing various codes and sensors going bad. Just doesn't seem built to last.
After putting a fan and radiator on it and the workhorse gears I really wanted to like it, most comfortable machine I've ever rode. Just not reliable, something is constantly breaking down on it. Maybe it wasn't really built for the extra power and weight of the big 1100cc four stroke, I don't know."
My last new snowmachine was like this. That is when I learned my lesson.

Out of curiousity, what was your last new snowmachine? Tundra II . Performed good, when it wasn't broken. I have operated newer ones. I drove an Expedition a few days ago. It has some problems.

I have been using a Polaris 340 long track for about the last 25 years and its always brought me home. I look like a monkey riding it I am 6'2"
It covers the basics for me and that is a high windshield, fan cooled, good on gas, and you even get a little heat off the engine blow by.
It hauls any load I put in the sled and has a good low end gear. On the bad side it is a bit tippy so have go slower, and cant spring hunt with the big boys when the river is slush. I have a good track with like 2'' lugs and hardly ever get stuck with it.
I also have a Polaris 440 long track, its goes fast but gets stuck easier, lower to the ground, not so tippy.
I have had 500 liquid cooled EFI Polaris, I took off the injectors and put carbs on it.
I had a XLT triple, that was fun, drank gas though. Hard to start on a cold day.
I had several Yamaha 400 and 340 Enticers, both long and short tracks. They were a good dependable machine.
I also had a Polaris Gemini that was like a Elan would go half the winter on a tank of gas it had a 8 gl tank.

Interesting, I bought a 97 Polaris 340 long track with the electric start for the wife to ride. She had never rode a snowmachine before and it was a really good deal and only had 800 miles on it. Besides, I was broke down and needed something to ride right then. I used it for about three weeks while I was waiting on parts for my snowmachine. Had a lot of different impressions than you. I also looked like a monkey on it with my knees up around my ears if I sat down and bent double standing up. I found it very stable (of course I learned on the old Tundras) but high geared (I don't know what gears are in it, but if I was going to use it much I would have to try and find lower gears for it) fan cooled is a must of course and the heat off the engine a plus, although not as good as the old Skidoos or my Bearcat, much better than the new Skidoos for that however. I was surprised by how much gas it guzzled for such a small motor, however, and it gets stuck easier than most of the machines I've owned (better than a lot I've been around however). The lack of reverse is a definite minus, been a long time since I used a machine without a reverse, and the front end feels very weak to me, I bent one of the little steering arms pulling on a ski. I've heard good things about their reliability, but I only put about four hundred miles on it in three weeks, and the wife has only rode it a few times since then, so I can't really comment on the reliability, but it had been sitting for three years without being started and I just poured gas in it, put a battery in it (pull rope was broken, which I fixed after I got it home) and it fired right up and ran without an issue. Except if you don't shut the gas shutoff off when you load it on the trailer it will fill the cylinders with fuel and be a bugger to start, which I'm sure is just the needle valves sticking from sitting and I need to just pull the carbs and clean them. Otherwise it fires right up and runs great.

Why? They are pretty simple machine. Parts wear out or break, not machines. Just replace the parts. Even the body's can be repaired. Lot less parts to go bad on a single cylinder/ simple machine. Because you seldom see anyone with that many sleds or atvs of one model that have all of them in operating condition. Some are usually parts vehicles.

How hard do you think it would be to find used parts/ or parts machines for a machine that was in production for close to 30 years with minor changes in those 30 years?
