It sure is good to see a few coyotes filtering in after that shower.
It’s hard to beat that first check after a rain day remake.
With nobody having trapped there in a few years what set has produced more coyotes for you so far?
You’d think that with all the possum and coon it would be hard to keep a baited set working.
I would be curious to know if the one hind caught coyote was a female and the other three were males.
Best of luck on the remaining checks.
Have snagged 9 coyotes so far. About half dirtholes..half flat sets. Possums and coons have destroyed some of the best set locations. Actually all 4 today were males. The black one is hind foot caught too.....at a dh. Sex ratio of coyotes to date is 5 males, 4 females.

Just finished my light skinning chores. Decided to cape this black coyote for a shoulder mount. Have another normal colored coyote shoulder cape that is ready to mount . Killed that one with a bow. Gonna have both of these mounted side by side with a welded open trap under them....to hang on wall. When I get too old I can look at them and remember. This black coyote was stout...40.4 lbs.

Very nice, you might have already covered it but how many sets you checking a day? I look forward to reading and see your pics every day!! Great Job!! There are about 7 dozen #2 Bridgers set for coyotes and cats, about 5 dozen Ztraps for coon, and 12 Belisles for beaver and otter. Been rolliing up to first trap about 0730 hrs. Got thru checking at 1245 today. Round trip is about 15 to 18 miles of logging roads on 3500 acres.

This is very enjoyable indeed. Your coverage of the adventure has been outstanding! You began with the prep, even getting groceries. Explanation and photos have been great. Very few trappers get to do this. I do this work, and understand the magnitude and commitment. Enjoy the adventure!
