https://www.outdoorlife.com/hunting/hunting-dogs-killed-coyote-snares-regulations/?amp It falsely states that there is no requirement to report incidental capture of non-target species by trappers in Montana, even though our regulations require such reporting to Fish Wildlife and Parks within 24 hours, and it's found in multiple spots within our printed regulations. I didn't read past that point in the article. Out of disappointment, I wrote Outdoor Life since it's clearly written multiple times within our regulations. I encourage you to write them too.

Didn't some guy like snare something nuts like 30 deer and only got in trouble because he didn't report it? Pretty sure this was in Montana, could be wrong though.

Why does this site tolerate members who are anti our way of life? If you talking bout me, I actually don't have a problem with trapping deer or really many other animals for that reason. Quite honestly I would love to be able to trap birds like they used to back in the day.

I stay in the realm of Fur-Fish-Game, American Trapper, and Fur Taker, myself. However, the OL article title made me wonder how it was going to be written, coming from what I thought used to be a hunting magazine... man, it ruined my good mood there for a little bit.

Outdoor Life has become kind of a Hack publication. I see their articles on my facebook feed, it's almost like it's written by an elitist European Noble who feels the Peasants shouldn't be allowed to hunt. I agree The past 15 years

Frankly I think it’s a stupid idea that you have to report incidental non-target catches. That information benefits the antis more than anyone else.

Ever since McManus stopped writing "The Last Laugh" column and OL started interviewing "celebrities" who may have once hunted rabbits or some such silliness I quit reading. It seems like it has gone down hill from there.
Eh...wot?

Even with leash laws the anti’s blame the trapper. If there is no lynx season it is a non-target catch.

Frankly I think it’s a stupid idea that you have to report incidental non-target catches. That information benefits the antis more than anyone else. I disagree more than a few anti trapping groups have lost attempts at banning traps due to the offical nontarget reports that show very few to no dogs sustained injuries after being caught in traps. The hard numbers are in our favor.
Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Leash laws fix this problem. They were hunting, not out for a stroll.
