Oh, I know how it happened, trying to push the blade through something and it folded shut on the finger, just didn't realize there was a scar still there after all these years. laugh

Not necessarily.
I think that Pat McManus made the distinction.
A creek runs clear and clean through mountain meadows, whereas a crick meanders through pastures and cows use it for a toilet.

Idk what you're trying to convey, cause I pronounced them both the same in my head!

The people who pronounce it KREEK fish for trout in it with a flyrod. And people who pronounce it correctly, crick, fish for catfish in it with a cane pole.

You pulled a trout from the creek, you pulled a white sucker or a bullhead out of the crick.

I have the scar. Remember when, where and why. More than 60 years ago, about the age of around ten. Still live in same house. Making bow and arrows out of willows and sack twine.

I thought McManus defined the difference between a creek and a crick as the presence of a tire.

It's creek, I should know as I grew up in the community of Rock Creek, Alabama. Anyone who says crick is a communist or worse a yankee.

I won't deny being a yankee, but I've stared at communists across a fortified border.
There was even a little crick running through part of it.

In my youth in Ohio, all small tributaries were referred to as "cricks". When I lived in Virginia, such small tributaries were referred to as rivers - lol.

I know that feeling when I travel going up on the Ohio River and spending time around the Mississippi. Traveling I cross bridges especially out west that say river but they look like what I call a ditch around home.

I have scars there and rember my knifes closing on me a few times leaving a bad cut. That's why I switched to lock blades probably when I was around 10.

Not necessarily, I caught lots of cutthroat trout in Jovita crick as a kid.
