Why is it. Everytime you see a medical provider. They want put you on another medication. Recently,i had a stressful situation(one reason i decided to retire early)that when i went to my doctor. He immediately wanted to put me on blood pressure med. Yes,it was high. Tried to explain the situation. Two days later. BP was normal. Also, seen several times when a person was experiencing mild depression. First thing they wanted to do was give you another pill to take.
I'm not one for taking crap i dont need or want. It's all the money. Doc visit and pharma kickback? What do you thank. Sarge

Easier to take a pill than to make life style changes or actually do some work in diagnosing the real issue

If you don't trust your Doctor I go to a different one.

What did you expect when you went to see the doctor?

To get a physical. Not become a zombie and or a pill popper. Seen that too many times over the years.

Sarge I agree.
My dr was awesome. First visit was awesome. Once I told him my health issues and don't want opioids or narcotics he was on board. He's bent over backwards to actually "heal me" instead of medications.
He moved to a different provider clinic so I'm trying to get in there with him but he's still waiting to be cleared by various insurance companies.

Well look at it another way. Your BP is high and the Doc does nothing, then you go tits up with a heart attack in a couple of days and who does everyone blame…the Doc for not getting it under control.

Doc was just doing what majority clamor for.
Give the people what they want....
a pill.
Or two.
And refills.
A diagnosis and medical name for "what they have."
A handicap parking sticker.
An excuse to be off work.
An extended leave form fill out.
Disability if at all possible.

Medicine is no longer the art of medicine.
It's the occupation of medicine.

Huge difference.

Blessings,
Mark

Don't forget another pill to counter the side effects of the pill the doctor just gave you.

I went through a time in my 50's when I had 21 surgeries in 5 years in 6 different States. I still remember my pain-management doctor at the end of that time telling me of all her MANY patients, there was me and one other person in her practice trying to get "off" pills. Everyone else said they had to have them.

2 outta MANY.
Pills are the modern day sacrament of the priest (docs) and temple (hospital) and are incredibly useful and necessary. Insulin keeps my two grown kids alive who have Type 1 diabetes.
But, people rely on them in ways they were never meant to be used.
And now the orals have run their course (so to speak) so illicit drugs growth is where the population seeks whatever they're trying to find.

Sex, drugs, and rock and roll.
Wonder why the last one fell outta favor?
The first two are rampant and getting more rampant.

Blessings,
Mark

Americans are 4% of the world's population but spend 60% of the world's healthcare dollars.
You think it's the doctors who created these numbers?

No way.
We are a curative healthcare system meaning the US healthcare system is set up to fix, save, heal.
Why not much preventative care (which costs far less)?
Because Americans don't want that style of health care.

I had a veterinarian tell me one time that he did fine with the animals, it was the owners that drove him nuts. Said a lady brought her little dog in for him to check, he told her there was nothing wrong with it. But she knew better and demanded he give it a shot. He refused and she said she would just go down the road to the other vet and get it. He reluctantly gave in and gave it a shot of penicillin and the dog died within a minute in the woman's arms. He got a job being a state vet working mostly with farm animals. I was under quarantine
for pseudorabies and got to know him well.

Disclaimer: This information comes from my experience with doctors and pharmaceutical reps during the late 80's through the 90's.

During these years I was a upland guide for a very prestigious hunt club. Quarterly that said pharmaceutical company would schedule hunts for the entire weekend for a 100 or so doctor's. This was big money for the club, around 6 figures for the weekend. During these hunts I would have 4 or 5 doc's with me and as with any hunt these fella's would brag, brag about there fishing trips to exotic places all paid for by said pharmaceutical company. One such conversation between two doc's I was privy to, one doc ask the other doc if he was invited to one of these fishing trips to a exotic island and his reply was that he wasn't because he hadn't met is quota with the said pharmaceutical company.

To me this appears you're not doctoring but pill pushing for personal gain. I have no clue if this is still happening, I haven't guided there since the early 2000's.

BTW, I never seen a male pharmaceutical rep, all women and all model quality..

Just my experience take it for what it's worth.
