It had the 22R, have owned several 22REs and own one currently, they get better fuel mileage and more power (still gutless) than the carberated version, but more electronics and not as easy to work on. On the other hand, I've never had to work on the fuel injection system on any of them, so the ease of working on them hasn't been an issue. I turned down an opportunity to buy a 79 with the 18R a couple years ago. I had tried to buy the truck back in the 90's when I turned 16 and the owner wouldn't sell, then it was offered to me a couple years ago. I've kicked myself some for not buying it, but I've more vehicles than I need, and wouldn't be happy with a regular cab these days, and it was only a four speed. Still a nice truck with only 170,000 original miles on it though.
