I was reading this story about a guy cutting up a bridge and it said he was going to sell the chunks on the black market. Do these really have any value? What would they be used for? I'm just having a hard time understanding his motivation for this. Yep, destroyed public property and needs to be sent to the pen and all that but I don't see a lot of money there. Especially for the work involved. confused

Looks to be Western Red which is a marketable lumber species but for the life of me I don't see how firewood sized chunks have much value outside of firewood.

Timber theft is a real thing but that's usually saw log stuff not firewood.

I figure them firewood size peices would bring 50 t0 100 dollars a piece, theres money in any wood you can drag out of the woods especally exotics,

Not too long ago, western red cedar, 18" long, was good for pounding out cedar shakes with a froe. I'm assuming that's what he was doing, is selling the chunks to a shingle-maker. Used to be real good money, I suspect now, even more.
