Said I wouldn’t post again but knew you wanted to see the announcement in action

trading, Amazon.com shares rose 5% after the e-commerce giant’s board approved a 20-for-1 stock split and authorized the repurchase of up to $10 billion of common stock.

Classic example of market manipulation Split your own stock then buy it back Then people wonder why Bobo still has a market over 33,000 take out the buy backs and inflation would drop along with market Make believe money would stop falling from the skys Guess how much Amazon made just from their stock rising 5 %
Plus if your buying 10 billion from yourself it cost you nothing !!!

What is your point? You don't think companies should be allowed to repurchase their own shares.

Amazon shares are units of ownership. They don't make anything when shares go up or down. They received the benefit of those shares being sold a long time ago. The fact that they are buying 10 bil back and their stock price rose means they get to buy back fewer shares for the same 10 bil.

Oh good. Thank you.

Here is what you first claimed.

"Flipped over to msnbc to see the market projected opening and One of bidens economic guys was in front of the white house. Telling companies that still have tons of Covid funds left to do "BUY BACKS on their stocks to prop up the stock market. !!! LOL Now who are were has anyone on here heard that before !!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
Guess what up 500 points before they even open the doors .........."

Now you are telling me that what you really meant was that Amazon is going to split their shares 20:1

Are you saying that Amazon will use covid funding to buy back shares ?

Splitting shares has absolutely ZERO financial impact on the company's share VALUE. It does affect the PRICE.

If a company issues a thousand shares total, and they are trading at 100$ each, that is a total capitalization of $100,000.00. Now let's say they split those 1000 shares by twenty. The price also splits . So now there are 20,000 shares trading at $5.00 each. Still a $100,000.00 market capitalization. No change and no benefit to the company.

On the buy back side.... Our imaginary company plans to buy back ........a thousand dollars worth of shares. If they do it before the split they will buy ten shares at $100 each......if they buy after the split they will buy back 200 shares at $5.00 each. Still a thousand dollars total. Also in either situation the company has bought back a total of 1 percent of the shares outstanding.

Finally they are NOT buying these shares from themselves. They are buying those shares in the open market and buying them from existing shareholders who are inclined to sell their holdings.

There is noting unethical, immoral, or illegal about any of it. You just don't have a grasp of the fundamentals. Still....I applaud your interest in the subject.

I believe that Ken is fully aware that companies do stock buybacks.

Have you got a link for that ? Apparently you are the only media outlet that is aware of this.[/quote]

This is what he was looking for a link that Biden team is encouraging company buybacks.

For what it's worth I'm not a fan of company buybacks

Now who is having comprehension issues. Amazon happened this morning THE ANNOUNCEMENT was yesterday morning on opening bell at 9.22 on MSNBC Look for a podcast you may see it.
I NEVER said it was unethical just saying that is one factor in inflation were Make believe money contributing to it. IF bobo had went thru with his taxing buy backs the market would correct and reflect it's true value and the consumers or low to middle class would benefit. Since i'm lured back in your response to the market jump because of oil isn't true. Oil dropped to 111.00 per . BUT were was the market trading 3 days ago when oil was 111.? The prices don't coincide with one another. It was the announcement saying bobo administration wasn't going to tax buy backs. Yes oil dropping might have been part of the jump but non taxing buy backs is why Amazon spilt 20 -1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just look how much stock Amazon owns!! Need me to find that for you ? It just multiplied by 20 !!!!!

Only reason is it's easy to see the dow and other s because it runs nonstop across the bottom. More people need to listen to the bobo narratives and try to stop them. One thing about it the negative things he say he is going to do he is a master. More people need to head them off instead of sitting back and saying "he's not that stupid to try that " As we can see stupidity doesn't slow the dems down

Yes oil futures helped but the turn around started before the oil changed.
AS for how this high market hurts the middle to lower class (not all middle class because they invest at the right time) Is cost of some necessities. HOUSE ! Rent in particulure . Investers bought up apartment complexes and even TRAILER parks in rural states. Raising rent so high residents couldn't afford them . Espescially the elderly on fixed income. FOX ( there was that the right network) ran a story a few months back on this story . One elderly lady had lived in the same house trailer for 25 years Yes it was in bad shape and SHE owned it .BUT rented the lot Suddenly her lot fee went from 200 per month to 525 !! she was only drawing 875 dollars from social security . Some of us who are blessed don't realize the hardships and struggles the stock market on steroids has put on low fixed income people. Yes this happened before the gas and unparralled inflation increases. The housing whether rent or prices was part of the stockmarket jump. Investment firms had to put it somewhere so complexes and trailer parks were an easy score.
