... Ministry briefing so far in this war?
I find that a bit odd. Even in 2003, when USA invaded Iraq, at least "Baghdad Bob" was on regularly before Saddam's government collapsed. All I've seen of this war are little video clips of action and walk arounds of aftermath. Any news of numbers of war stats are almost always just given by western reporters from "sources", some named but many unnamed. No embedded western reporters with either Uke or Rus forces during battles. It mostly a real war (people are dying) but done over Youtube and Twitter (sorry, don't do Twitter). I've never seen a Ukrainian general giving any assessments, only George Washington Zelinsky giving speeches. Hmmmm....
There’s a guy posting on you tube I think he is called speak the truth. He’s an American vet and does a real good job of calling the game for both sides. He tries to remain impartial. He maps everything out including locations of battles, tail numbers of jets and choppers destroyed, tanks destroyed and locations along with everything else, lots of battlefield footage.
There’s another guy on YouTube called the enforcer but the first guy is better because he was in Iraq and knows where the elements are headed for and why. Objectives.
There’s no big engagements like you might think. Mainly lots of ambushes on probing elements from the Russians. They get shot up and you see lots of abandoned equipment and Russians surrendering. The only success the Russians have really had is encircling cities and shelling from afar into the cities. They do control areas near the border but definitely not all of it. Their columns seam to be stuck on the roads cause of the mud in the fields. Lots of the Russian troops don’t want to fight, some are starving, many run out of gas. The average Russian soldiers seam to be not led well by their commanders getting lots of them killed. Even the Russian generals and upper officers are being killed with about nine getting killed this week alone. The only thing they seam to have on their side is lots of men.
The Ukrainians conducting the ambushes seam to be in good morale many of them shout things at the Russians as they engage them and make fun of the Russians as they take them prisoner. They seam to be totally unafraid of the enemy as they pick through the trucks and bodies taking ammo, guns and war trophies. The javelins, nlaws and stingers are highly effective with 80 percent or higher strikes on target. You see lots of cooked tanks and vehicles in the footage. I seen a dead Russian soldier laying in a ditch his face clearly visible with a look of surprise or horror still on his face. In that clip there was half dozen of them dead lying there the squad that ambushed them looked to be no more than ten men and they laid waste to four vehicles of Russians at the same time.
I don’t think you will see American style press briefing from the Ukrainians detailing their operations. Looks to me like there’s lots of little groups of them acting autonomously from central command. The cities under attack all make their own war councils with who they have willing to fight citizens and soldiers. The mayors of those cities are directing the fight with the military leaders. The citizens that dint flee are all involved in the war efforts.
Even if Russia wins they are not going to have much of an army left, with most equipment being scrap. They will also have to deal with insurgents for years to come. The Ukrainians want to fight there’s no doubt about that.
