We looked at a new Chevy Equinox with heated seats but there was no chip
so they didn't work, GM offerd a $50 rebate and there would be no charge for
the chip or installation. The dealership had no ideal when they would get the chip.

One of the guys I trap cats on bought a new ford pickup he’s loaded so he gets the bling on his trucks not a issue for him to worry about. It started acting up all kinds of computer issues he took it to the dealer, they said there was nothing they could/would do for him. He took the loss and traded I in on a truck with minimal bling on it.

I agree. All the addons are one of the main reasons the costs are so high. I don't care about all the buttons that do this or that. Where are the days when you could order a truck with only what you wanted on it?

You can still order a truck how you want it. The manager at the plantation I trap ordered an F150 4x4 without all the fancy doodads. Vinyl floors and seats, roll down windows, AM/FM radio, towing package, and a few other odds and ends he wanted. Had to wait about 4 months for it and put half down when ordering and the other half when he picked it up. It is an option.

I looked at some new ones a year before the pandemic. The salesman explained all the features they had. I was more confused than anything and asked if they had anything less complicated? I was told they all come that way now. He never mentioned I could order what I wanted. So, two years ago I bought a 2018 and still haven't figured out what a lot of the buttons do. I'm real careful not to accidently hit some of them.
