They don't need the feed. It's lazy and greedy "hunters" trying to hoard deer on their leases.

Its some sort of sick joke just like the crazy cat ladies that they pour out the feed then complain about the raccoons that show up to eat it.

As a coon hunter I'd not be opposed to a year round season. But if we had one, I'd shoot less than half a dozen coon during it. Just one a month or so to keep the dog interested.

Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

The coons/possums are obvious nest predators. The fact that they eat feed from deer feeders is not the issue....

...but the feeders are great places to catch em.

Agree it’s all in the marketing of it, lots of options out there then the basic catch and sell in bad times.

Not around my place. I live in a rural, mixed community. Once in a GREAT while someone will want one coon. NEver a possum. I usually kill fifty or more feral hogs a year - cant pay someone to take one. Coons, possums, and the rest are no different than coyotes. Most folks have no problem not utilizing a coyote - what makes a coon any different.

I do my trapping end of Mar thru June during fawning and nesting season. What would you do with coons caught in May and June in the south to make some money?

That depends on the hunters. Most of mine hate having to feed them. Costs go up.

If you are feeding something year around it isn't wildlife, it is livestock.

In Nebraska, turkeys are a problem. It's a pheasant/quail state......or used to be. It's been decided it's the turkeys breaking eggs in the nests that has declined the pheasant numbers. Even where there's habitat, there's no pheasants anymore. Or quail.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Raccoon
Possum
Mink
Skunk
??????
Turkey

Ever seen a chart ?

Plenty of everything but not a ton of mink statewide. There are a few everywhere and alot in places. But 40 yrs ago there were a lot of pheasants and quail both. Hawks have been blamed too but nobody knows for sure. One thing for sure, turkeys have exploded the past 40 yrs.

I'm currently in Lakeland Florida and would love to get ahold of a young hog. They're all over the preserves but I have no idea how I could legally harvest one. And if they're a problem, I'm not paying the state for a permit...

Florida is a joke when it comes to hogs. They use them as a cash crop. Been on several WMA’s down there turkey hunting and could have taken 20-30 pigs a day…but Florida doesn’t allow them to be shot except during season and in some cases on a drawn hunt.
Come to GA and any WMA open welcomes you to shoot until you run out of bullets or shells. Only stipulation is you must use the appropriate firearm for whatever you are hunting. Small game…small game weapons. Turkeys…shotgun or archery. Etc…
