I have been inquiring all.through the major fisher producing areas of North America to see if anyone has equaled or beat my catch of 12 fisher in a day and I I havn't found anyone that could prove that they have beaten this number. Is there anyone you know if that has caught more than 12 in a day? I remember my three day catch was 12,10 and 8 don't imagine I'll ever do this again. Just interested to see! I know back in the early sixties the New Hampshire boys who knew Malcome Locke said his first day chech was in the mid 20's [Linked Image]

I know of a trapper in Eastern Ontario that trapped over 90 fisher at least twice in a season.
Dont know how many traps he ran or what his daily high catch was though.

That is a great one day catch of fisher.

That is one heck of a bunch of Fisher! Johnny Thorpe used to pile them up, but I've no idea how many were his one-day numbers. Where I live that would be a twelve YEAR limit. I would love to trap someplace for a couple weeks where catching one doesn't shut down the trapline.

Maine but you have to deal with the exclusion cages with conibears or use footholds.

Great day,I remember a trapper friend up here when we were allowed 2 fisher a season, this was 20 some years ago,the limit is back to 2 now for the last 8 years or so.Getting back to the story Tim had 6 fisher sets out all footholds out of the 6 he had 5 fishers,Tim was able to release the other 3 and on his short line maybe 15 miles at the most he saw 4 more fisher in this travels crossing the roads. For about 10 years we were crawling with fishers it was real common to release 10 to 15 per season from fox and coyote sets.

I'd love to hit the Haynesville Woods again Bruce, especially after you are in Nevada and the Fisher have recovered a bit from your scooping them up by the arm full. It would be nice to not have to jump through any Lynx rules too. Bear is all I ever trapped in Maine. Mr. Johnson may have to move west too though!

Great catch! Nice pic. You should write a book on trapping them.
