No kidding.lol

Traditionally there are no beaver within 10 or 15 miles in either directions.

We have A little crick that runs behind our house and yesterday Jerry found beaver sign behind our house where there has Never been beaver sign.

It came through on the high water.i guess.

I told Jerry it was the 7 gallons of Backbreaker ...some from Paul and 4 gallons that Charlie made...that Jerry bought .from Carl Jones son after. Carl passed away.

Some days when the weathers just right..you can smell Backbreaker wafting through the air.lol..no kidding.

He spent his whole stimulus check last year on Backbreaker
. said itd be making him money for years to come
grin

The rest of us trappers are doing it wrong, we drive to the beaver to trap them and Jerry draws them to the house so he just has to walk and get them, a very smart man. smile

That's interesting. When Charlie was sick Carl told me he had bought enough Backbreaker he never had to worry about running out. Guess he bought more than enough. He said when Steckniki died his lure was never the same and he didn't want to have to worry about that.

I remember Charlie mentioning Mike Stechnicki...spoke very highly of him. Mike always took the time to talk with me about any questions that I had...it was much appreciated.
I don’t know about the rest of you beaver trappers but I occasionally get sloppy and end up with a little Backbreaker or other lures on me when water trapping. I have had muskrats and beaver swim right up to me, nose out of the water trying to make out that thing that smells so good. Good stuff!

LOL, that's funny. I had one trapper tell me he put a battery operated fan behind a stick with Backbreaker on it so it would blow out across the water. He said it worked great. I had to wonder if maybe natural winds had more to do with it than the fan. I think the fan would have a short distance of effective dispersal.

I used to dry my castor in my fish cleaning/skinning house which sits about 15 feet from the lake shore on which I live. It is not air tight by any means and with a North wind the spring traveling beaver would spend extra time by my shoreline because of it. I of course had anywhere from one to three sets there to get them. Well, I am not drying them there any more but hang a cloth soaked in Backbreaker on a tree limb and it has the same effect. Last spring I took 32 beaver in 3 sets within a few yards of my house as they traveled by. No gas expense involved with this method and very little walking as well. I live on a chain of lakes with many connecting creeks and rivers.

To be fair it was over a period from April 6th to May 15th and it was almost three times my usual catch there for some reason. I am connected to a huge maze of waterways and I'm sure some have traveled a long distance.
