I like em. I get them to fire on a hair trigger, which requires some tinkering.
Though if you don't like tinkering with traps, you might want to look at the FB2

Coon Daggers are my favorite but good luck finding them in stock right now. Has anyone take over coon dagger since Carlis died?

Terry, the FB1's are good traps. If you're looking for a complete DP system freedom brand did a good job creating it with they're brackets and drags. You can about use it in any situation. Very fast system. You can use the same versatility with the z traps. All it takes is a 3/8 drill bit. Trees, barn floors, culverts, dead wood, fense posts. That is what I like best about them. Never used the FB1. But like my z traps and coon daggers, have a few dukes that have held up as well but haven't invested much into them

I have used Fb1's and I like them. The main reason i found that they werent firing properly is that the mechanism for the push pull trigger gets gummed up with bait and lure. In the DP world it is a fairly complex device to allow push and pull trigger action. It can gett clogged up and needs cleaned out. If left to rust a lot they will also not work well. A quick swipe with a file to clean the mech. up they work great. Clean them and check for good movement in the mech and they shoudl be good to go,.

Though if you don't like tinkering with traps, you might want to look at the FB2 I watched a video from Clint Locklear on how he tunes them . Is that similar to what you do ? Terry

Terry I am not answering for Sniper but Clints video of modifying and tuning worked great for me. I had bought them and was struggling with them back in the day when they came out untili watched that video. It helped me a lot.

I have a few of the FB1 traps. Overall, I like them okay. They’re a breeze to set compared to other designs, but I don’t really care for the way the chain attaches. I prefer the sharp spike found on other designs. Just preference.
That flat spade vs a spike does look to be harder to stick in the ground. If I were to use them I'd would look at making some sort of dibble to poke a hole that would fit.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the FB1s. Like others have stated, I always seem to have to tinker with the trap after a catch. They are a breeze to set compared to other dogproofs, but I rarely have to adjust any of my dukes or z traps after a catch. More than once I’ve been running my coon line on limited time, and it was a real pain to take the extra time to adjust them and keep them set. I also noticed that occasionally I’d get a really muddy or wet raccoon, and the mud gunked up the trap and they wouldn’t stay set. To be fair, I don’t have a ton of experience with them, and have only used them for a couple seasons.

I have a bunch of original lil grizz traps. Strong as can be. The stabilizer is ok. I also bought a bunch of the pcs featherweight traps. They are my favorite. No treatment, a spike stabilizer, and very lightweight trap that has a strong spring. I’ll get more of them if I buy more.

I've heard that you have less grinner catches with the pull only triggers. Dear Lawd, I’d hate to see my possum catches with a push/pull then, lol.

I use the bridgers and have had good luck with them. They are a pull type with a ring trigger.
And yes you can still catch a grinner in a pull only type trap.
I have a few a few z traps but have never used them.

The PCS Feather Light dog proof traps are by far the best for me. Pull only, aluminum body with all stainless components, and a good chain with swivels.

I sold all the FB1's that I had. Like many others have already said, I grew tired of tinkering with them all the time. I bought some of Kendall's No BS dog proofs to try this year. Like all his other traps, these look to be built like a tank too.
