I take few pictures and seldom post but thought I’d share this. This location has consistently produced coyotes for the last 33 years I’ve worked this district. It’s the very head of a rough drainage that runs four miles south to the river/Nebraska border. Great denning country. It tops out here onto the flat with sheep two miles north. I’ve long ago lost count of how many coyotes this location has taken. Standard rock walk thru with either dirt hole or T-bone attractor I’ve shown at Coyote Days and other demos. Up tight in the rocks to keep the cattle off. Yes, you can force coyotes and you can consistently catch them up against tall backing!

Interesting that you call this forcing a coyote ,, I would think it a natural trail they frequent and are not at all suspicious of anything ?
I was always under the thought that forcing was moving the target off their natural area of caution into a unknown area or blockage not regularly traveled ?

Rocks.

They’re not just for cats.

Flintrock topped buttes and hills are coyote magnets.

Grit, I'm speaking of forcing at the set and the oft repeated notion that you cant set up against tall backing, heavy guiding etc.. regardless of weather they are in a familiar area or not. What you speak of I wouldn't call forcing at all but rather "drawing"

Vary interesting posting, very nice location, can see why you set it. Looking at the face shot looks like it may be a good pelt. Thanks for the pictures and scenery view.

I regularly catch them with sets at the base of large trees to keep my traps away from lawn mowers, tractors and brush hogs.

Great pictures and info, thanks.
Having sheep just north, icing on the cake.
I was out shooting for a ranch couple months ago that adjoined a very big sheep operation. Put a good hurt on those dogs coming across drawn to those white fluffy magnets.
