Do you have Pheasants Forever or Wild Turkey Federation or some other wildlife habitat promoter? Pheasants Forever used to provide seed for people who would plant food plots.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

The best place to buy see is your local co-op. They’ll have forage seed that grows in your area. In WV I would imagine there’s little to no topsoil. A clover and alfalfa mix would make a good no till buffet.

They will have a mix that does well in your area and soil. The crown vetch will eventually choke out everything else but maybe erosion control is a desired outcome.

Thanks for the replies. I checked out local co-op first. There are 4 places here in town that sell seed, none of them had red clover or crown vetch.
I checked online, the one place listed above had a jumbo red clover, organic, and it was listed at $240 for a 50 pound bag. Plus half of the shipping and taxes. I didn't check the rest of the seed prices.
Finally found red clover at the co-op over in the next county, it was $200, for a 50 pound bag. I put out 10 or 12 pounds the other day.
Yes, very little top soil, and poor ground. I'll tell you where I sowed it, it was mainly along the high side of the road bank. A couple of places, I did rake the leaves and weed stems out of the way, and went across it with the seeder. I'm sure some of it will come up, but it's not going to get much sunshine. Once the tree leaves come on, it's going to be shady.
I did buy some alfalfa seed the other day, that stuff cost me $81 for 9 pounds. I should have a chance one day this week when I can go back and sow some more. Our ground is moist now, hopefully it'll take root and get started. We'll see.
Thanks again.
