Came home today and the boys were excited to tell me about the last 4 days events since I left for work. Besides the broken 4 wheeler, and trees that fell in the wind storm, tome
turkeys got the most excitement especially since they said one is white.

Its pretty to me also since I have never seen a white wild turkey. I guess if they manage to kill it this season it will result in a taxidermy bill but will be very cool.

many times turkeys from a farm flock breed with wilds and throw turkeys with colors. South dakota prairie coteau had that problem yrs ago and fish n game couldnt regulate hunting those according to game warden out of my office.

They are 9 and 11 so that would be possible but we are the only birds around here are wild or backyard chickens. We don't have any turkey farms for miles.

Thread last week on this. It's a color phase that pops up from time to time. Pretty common In fact . Bets it's closer to grey than white. Everyone says white because of the contrast.

True albino turkeys are very rare ,like 1 in 100,000. There are variations occasionally white with black, smoke grey etc.

About two weeks ago I saw the first strutting Tom. I am seeing the big flocks of hens starting to break up the last week or so here. Don't know if that is early, late or typical.

had a tom fighting the basement window about 2 weeks ago. You could hear the "TAP TAP" sound of him pecking away at the window.
Not the first time they have done that. First time I heard it I thought it was rain dripping in the gutters, but there was no rain at the time.
Had to open the window above him to scare him away. He was pretty into his reflection in the glass, me opening the window didn't stop him in the least.

Saw 2 Toms this morning in a small field next to our house during a snow squall.
Have not seen any turkeys in numbers like we used to several years ago.
