They're hangup around my Calving cows.

Sitting on my Grandkids swing set. And in trees nearby.

One almost blinded one of our calves last year.

Call the DNR I know in some states you can get a permit if attacking livestock.

Thats a turkey vulture. It won’t hurt anything and is just there cleaning up the placenta. You also won’t ever get permission to kill them, and there’s no need to. Everyone is confusing them with black Mexican vultures. They’re all black and have a very different head. For those, SSS every one you see.

That's what I thought they were. Been getting thick here in WV for the past several years. never were here before. The are more brave and bolder than the native ones.
Stay all winter too when the others migrated ... or became scarce)
Thanks

My Wife was walking our long driveway last year and thought a large lump near a laying down cow was odd...when she got closer it Spread its wings and lifted off a newborn Whiteface Calf....it's skin was torn bloody near its Eye. One peck it got and almost blinded that $500 Calf...

Then it wasn’t a turkey vulture.

Scott, you need livestock guardian dogs. They've been bred for thousands of years to kill predators that go after goat kids and lambs, including golden eagles and vultures. Our Kangal, Great Pyrenees and crosses will lunge and bark at bald eagles, turkey vultures and black buzzards when they fly over, even if the birds are hundreds of feet in the air.

Not possible. Turkey vultures don’t have talons, they can’t possibly lift and fly with an 80 lb. calf. They also don’t have a beak that can tear skin. Whatever it was, it wasn’t a turkey vulture.

An effigy of one dead hanging upside down will make them move from a roost. I would guess one hanging off the swing set would keep them out of the area.
