For bullheads its hard to beat night crawlers. I never caught one on chicken liver

I fish for bullheads a bunch off my dock during the cool summer nights. My two go to baits are night crawlers that I hit with an air needle, to get them up out of the bottom grass. Second is 3 to 4 inch salted minnows, Toss up which is better. Salted minnows are also deadly on trout in the river and creeks at my cabin. Non Iodized salt only...
you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

If you have access to some clams, try letting some clam guts ferment in a glass jar in the sun for awhile, wrap them in cheese cloth bundles and they work great for catfish. Probly bullheads too. I did that at Ft Gordon GA in some military ponds and mopped up on catfish on trotlines. I'm sure store bought ones would work too but expensive.

Chicken livers for cat fish
Crawlers for bullhead ^ This, around here anyway. I would add, in lakes full of bullhead it was always hard to catch a channel cat before the bullheads took the bait. The bull heads would always hit crawlers, sometimes hit liver, never hit sand toads or stink bait.
