MJM was looking at Windy.com and saw your area the center of the low pressure and looked like it was not moving for a-wee-bit
That strong low pressure system by James Bay was blocking it from moving east.
got 8 inches between 5am and noon and now the winds are shifting so the system is moving
Saw a 100 robins and they were not impressed......

Tonight's forecast is more of the same. We do need the moisture and it shows it getting above freezing Saturday.
Snow, heavy at times. Gusty winds will lead to blizzard conditions. Low 18F. Winds NNW at 25 to 40 mph. Chance of snow 100%. Snow accumulating 5 to 8 inches. Winds could occasionally gust over 50 mph.

It’s nasty out, high centered the truck 3 times on my side street getting home this morning. I had to get the snow blower out to get into the driveway… can we say this is a drought breaker?

It is not snowing or blowing as bad this morning. The wind dropped off about 05:00 am to 25-35 with gusts over 40. Here are two pictures to show that the wind does. The first is taken looking to the east and the second looking south. The drift by the shop is higher than the walk through door. The shop has a 10 foot side wall. I wish my snow shoes were in the house, not the shop. I may try to clean out Tuesday. It will be a little warmer and wind to blow snow to the slough. I park the pick up close to 100 yards south of the house on top the little rise and have always been able to drive it out. I am sure my road is plugged so why move it.

The storm covered over 3/4s the state. I just saw Minot got 30" which was the most for the state. Minot is 25 miles east of me. The east 1/6 side of the state still has the road open. The rest of the state the roads are closed or no travel advised. So they must have not get the snow we got further west. It will be the 20th before we have a high above freezing, is what it shows.
