Post oak.
Google post oak bark images Just googled it as I never heard of a post oak tree White Oak vs Post Oak These two white oaks are easily confused when found growing together in dry habitats, as white oak often exhibits a similar growth habit to post oak under these conditions. Most trees can be distinguished at any time of year by differences in leaf shape, texture, and presence or absence of pubescence on twigs and buds. White oak has a broader range of habitat preferences, whereas post oak is restricted to dry habitats with poor soil, and can tolerate even harsher sites. The two species can and do hybridize, so it may not be possible to identify all individuals. So according to this a post oak is a type of white oak?

Yes, Quercus stellata is a white oak but Quercus alba is white oak if you get where I'm going. Oak are usually classified by white oaks (Leucobalanus subspecies) and red oaks ( Erythrobalanus subspecies). White oaks have more lobed leaves without barbs or points on the ends, red oaks have the more pointy leaves. Within each are various white oak species, red oaks, black oaks and chestnut oaks.
Q. alba, white oak, is a large tree that likes good spoils. Post oak, Q,stellata, is a smaller tree and likes the sandier , poorer soils. White oak acorns are more favored by wildlife also, red oak acorns are bitter tasting. Chestnut oak falls into the white oak side.

Tupelo trees are usually found in, or very near water. They have a very soft wood which is preferred by several carvers I know. I don't think that is tupelo.

It’s a gum tree. Ours in Pa. get a black seed that falls in late summer. Black gum ( Tupelo ) To my eyes, your picture does not look like Gary's picture at all. (No offence meant. Just opinion.) That looks identical
