You guys are nuts Tell me what he had done that has harmed the constitution What has he done to harm your state what has he done to harm you ???? If not for Mitch Garland would be on the Supreme Court! How would you like that ? This is by far the best and maybe only noteworthy thing he has accomplished. Much more is expected from someone in his position.

He is doing what is best for the party-he knows anything connected to Trump will sink his ship. Yep, it will sink his Rino ship and I hope it goes under fast.

Reagan was hated by the Bush wing of the party.

"Furthermore, Social Security was certainly not Reagan’s “highest priority.” Reagan had never been a friend of Social Security. He was a hardliner when it came to all government social programs. He called unemployment insurance “a prepaid vacation plan for freeloaders.” He said the progressive income tax was “ a brainchild of Karl Marx.” And, he called welfare recipients “a faceless mass waiting for handouts.” Reagan referred to Social Security as a “welfare program” and, during the 1976 Republican Presidential Primary, Reagan proposed making Social Security voluntary, which would have essentially destroyed the program. There is no way that anyone who knew Reagan’s record would accept his claim that Social Security was his highest priority. He had always wanted the program eliminated, or at least privatized." Definitely RINO.

You know what they say, the proof is in the pudding.
Changes were made to SS in 1983 to keep it solvent? You'll have to remind me who the POTUS was in 1983.
We also managed to double the federal debt during his 8-year tenure.

I guess they could have printed money? Pretty sure his advisor Alan Greenspan said no. Like warrior said, he never owned congress. Not like Bush and Trump. Hard telling what could have been accomplished if Reagan had a Republican congress when there were still a few Fiscal conservatives in Congress. The first time the Republicans gained Congress in 50 some years they managed to balance the budget. After that, it all fell apart, never to be fixed again. FYI Bryce, Reagan raised the payroll tax and put Federal employees in the system. Then they (him and the democrat congress) spent all the extra money and some. Reagans military expenditures gave us the peace dividend of 90's with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Then what you said happened. Even Slick Willie became a Conservative in 90's "The Era of Big Government is Over:" Clinton's 1996 State of the Union Then we went and got compassionate.

No, the democrat congress doubled the debt. Reagan like so many other wartime presidents had to cut a deal with the devil in order to win the cold war. We won the cold war? It looks like it could blow up any day. Dirt, the government running deficits is the textbook definition of "printing money". Peace dividends of the '90s?

Selling bonds to private investors is printing money?
I thought selling bonds to the Fed who makes up the money to buy them is how money is printed ( created)?
When treasuries pay interest above inflation, they are attractive investments. Not so much since 2008.

We should have stayed on the gold standard. Not as far as I can tell. Treasuries were paying twice the rate of inflation some years. Which at the time was maybe 5 to 6% higher than inflation. Probably didn't have a problem selling treasuries to private investors. Greenspan was gold standard guy in the 60's Thing is, you have to play the cards you are dealt. At the time the Fed was working on their dual mandate, not bailing out irresponsible governments. They were practicing QT not QE.
