The rats look plump. Do you trap the rats also?

My daughter has a muskrat belly parka her lower Yukon delta grandmother made for her. Don't know whatever happened to it. Look like pretty big rats. I've done spring hunting twice in years past. Good times. Even made a canvas canoe the first time.
Enjoy the pics and the peeks into your lifestyle!

I think that was my last rat hunt this spring. Good all-nighter on Friday-Saturday. 2am-2pm I think. Made it to my camp and had to mount the engine on the boat before we could do anything. Got it all lined up and drilled the holes and had a ball.

Ryan in all my years I have never had the opportunity to hunt any rats and I t may seem like a stupid question but do they float or sink when you shoot them?

Great stuff. Teaching the boy a lot of hands on. I see a lot of books on the shelf too. Hopefully he likes to read too. A person can learn a lot from books IF they have the hands on ground truthing experience to sort out the BS'ers writings from the good stuff. I date myself. Lots to learn from the likes of U tube too but again watch out for the BS'ers and put it up against your own life long hands on learning.

Help. That was actually supposed to say hello. Autocorrect.
Maybe my phone is speaking for me. Lol. Just kidding but man it’s been busy lately. Work all day and then skin and stretch rats all night. Pretty hot for the last couple day after a long cool spring. Started the last freezer of muskrats so shouldn’t be too much longer and I can move on to other stuff to keep me busy until fall comes around and the nights get cool and dark. Then it’s time to look for the big bull caribou. After that it’s moose and trapping preparations and so on and so forth. Ive got all the parts for my old 243 so I’ll be putting that together and getting the kids more time shooting their rifles this summer. Never ending busy busy busy but I like it.

This was the first black rat for me. I’ll hang it up beside my blond rat

Great looking fur Ryan and Bobby.
How are they for bites in spring.with the high populations you got there?

Bites are not too bad this year. Lots of the rats I shot this spring could pass for early spring trapped rats

About 1 in 500 is a black one here Ryan. Noticed a guy (in Maryland I believe) posting a while ago he gets quite a few. I put a piece of string thru the eye with a small cardboard tag saying "black 'rat". Afraid grader might miss it where I think they grade 'rats so fast. Better price usually as everyone knows. Have topped the sale with them before. Yours gonna be a wall hanger and good. Have never seen a blond one.
