Hello, all!! I have a few older Victor #1.5’s that I wanted to convert to be #2’s, but they don’t have the symmetrical jaws. Sterling Fur has #2 jaws listed on their site, but I got the call this morning that they were out of stock and not being produced anymore. I’ve scoured the internet and have come up empty for #2 DLS jaws new or used…. My question to you guys- are there any other jaws that would fit in the frame and work to turn these 1 1/2’s into any kind of DLS trap like the 2’s? I’ve seen some posts on here with mixed reviews for turning 1.5’s into 2’s…

Thanks!

Sorry on the jaws thing, probably better to just buy #2 DLS and be done with it. Are You doing this just for fun or are you trying to make a coyote trap out of them?

I wouldn’t use them for coyote, but I like how the double longs bed better than the singles- so I was hoping to convert these 1 1/2’s to 2’s. I really enjoy playing around and modifying what I have to what I like and/or what I find works best. But then again, I’m also the fool that has over 150 old #2 Victor square jaws that tears them all down to turn them into 4 coil, laminated, and base plated traps in the event a coyote steps in my fox trap, hahahaha…. Hundreds of dollars in mods to protect a $5 trap and hold a coyote of roughly the same value…. So yeah, I’d say it’s just for the fun of it.

Well… problem solved!!! For anyone that likes tinkering and wants to either turn their #1.5 long springs into #2’s, or wants new jaws for their existing #2 longs- Duke 1.75 round jaws are the answer!!!! Removed a set of jaws from my Duke 1.75, placed them in my vise and with a few hits with my BFH the jaws were the right size to fit in the frame. Quickly discovered that the jaws were slightly too wide for the spring eyes, and the jaw tips were too long as well. With a little flap disc action I was able to hit the places that gave me issues and BAM- I was in action!!!
