Be careful what you ask for.
My dad did that and he wasnt.oo happy to find out we were related to a first degree murderer.
That ended his search

It was not a part of Germany at that time stated in 1847. It was Prussia, Germany was not unified as a country until 1871.

Can't find this place on a Map.
Hackenwalde, Pomerania, Prussia. I was able to trace my Great Grandparents to this place. They were born back in 1847. Is that Russia, Germany , or Poland ? Pommern as the place is called in German is an area that was pert German and part Poland its on the baltic coast reaching about 120 miles inland. Many folks there spoke both german and polish. when it got divided a lot of the german names of towns got changed to the polish counterparts and the German was no longer used. Hope that helps. If you need to know more, ask Koiso ... he apparently knows a lot about geography
Let's go Brandon

That ended his search Had an aunt do some digging into our family tree. Supposedly we are relayed to Gen. George Armstrong Custer.
