Today I spent some more time looking at some of the back issues of the Trapper and Predator Caller from the early 1980.s The writers contributing articles to that magazine was like a who's who of Trapping greats of the last 50 years . Don Schumaker Tom Knause ,Kermit Stearns, Carroll Black Jim Helfrich Gerry Blair Charlie Dobbins Major Boddicker Bob Noonan Tom Miranda Jeff Coon Richter ,Parker Dozier Willis Kent Nick Wyshinski Dennis Kirk Jim Spencer Mike Marsyda Hal Sullivan Mark June .are all listed under Features throughout the issues published in the 1980.s Plus many others Charlie Dobbins had many of his stories published in that time period . He was a great story teller and I often went to his articles and read them first / But there was so much great info being shared that it was a must read from cover to cover A hundred plus pages of knowledge all sent to your door to learn about trapping . Most of the state trapping association gave you a subscription for joining the state association I became a life time member of Pa Trappers Assoc. in 1984 . [Linked Image]

Good stuff. I used to immerse myself in the reading of those and the FFG's. I always went to the market reports first. That was back before there was a Trapperman so my main info source was the magazines.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

My older brother and I would get a copy when mom went to the grocery store. She went every other week so it was a long wait.

The pursuit of my 50 plus years of hunting and trapping are the memories of the story of my life . Of course some of those are better than others .I am just thankful for the chance to have been able to have enjoyed the many experiences that have been a part of it

Had several boxes of those magazines and gave them all to a young man that wanted to learn. He and his father read though every issue and became very good at trapping and predator calling.
