Had a discussion with a black friend at work back around 08. Told him a lot of things but one was I would be proud to hav slavery in my history. He could not believe it. I said yes from slaves and segregation to the most powerful man in the world in what less than 200 years. That's an big accomplishment. You see my friend was a product of his environment and once Obama came up everything turned into a racial issue. Surprised me after being friende for several years.

I tried another approach. If it had not been for slavery Than your ancestors would have never met and you would not exist to be complaining about something you never experienced.

I didn't like Obama because of his voting record in the senate and his policies. Everything my friend had to say was a racial comment and motivated. According to him if he were white I would vote for him. He called me.ever thing but a white guy. got to stuttering he was so upset even though I was calm collected and backed everything with reason logic and veritable fact.
I don't have the life experiences of a 50 year old black man. But it seemed as though he was looking at every single thing trying To make it out to be a racist thing. In the end we are still friends but I do limit contact and discussion and we are no longer close like we once were. It's a product of environment. His parents, friends and political party told him his entire life white man was keeping him down and he bought into it.. His wife is a pharmacist, he makes 85-110k a year Same ss I did, both his kids graduated collage and are doing very well. He is a very successful Man, husband, and father. Yet still has this ingrained complex.

The slave owners were mostly all democrats.
Slaves were freed thanks to the efforts of the north.
Lincoln had a lot to do with freeing the slaves. He was opposed to slavery and felt slaves should have the same opportunities whites did. He was a republican.
Margaret Sanger, a left wing democrat was a strong supporter of abortion for black folks. She felt this was one way of getting rid of the black population. She considered blacks an inferior race and had a strong hatred for them.

I will never understand why most black people are democrats. It must be because of their ignorance of history.

I should think the horrors of the American Civil War are enough of an apology for slavery. It's a regrettable part of our past. But that was more than 100 years ago. Time to move on.

Why would they? Slavery has existed throughout history. You either killed them or captured them to add to your labor force. Maybe they would prefer that their ancestors had been killed.
