The Pat Arnold Youth Trappers Camp is back this year and taking applications for kids from all states who want to come. The camp runs over Columbus day weekend 10/8, 10/9, and 10/10. Admission is $40 per kid witch includes EVERYTHING. The camp is completely run by volunteers and the DEC is heavily involved. If you are interested or know someone who may, be sende a message and ill get you the application.
Basic itinerary-
Arrive on 10/7 at any point after 5pm.
Kids get a snack and a rundown from the camp administrator.
Kids go to bed
10/8
Have a hearty breakfast at 8am
Kids will be split up into small groups with their mentors and go trapping.
(This is actual trapping, we have special permits from the DEC)
Lunch at noon
The kids will then switch from land to water or vice-versa and go trapping again.
Dinner at 5pm
There will then be a trapping demonstration by one of our expert mentors
Kids go to bed
10/9
Breakfast at 8am
Kids check the traps they set the previous day
The kids will come back and switch mentors and check their other traps.
Lunch at noon
Full skinning and fur prossessing demonstration of all caught animals
(Interactive- kids process the animals they caught)
Dinner at 5
There will then be a trapping demonstration by one of our expert mentors
Kids go to bed
10/10
Breakfast at 8am
Kids pull all traps
Kids get demonstrations on releasing animals from foot hold traps
Lunch at 12 - families welcome
Kids go home.
