Bumped up my hourly rate and bought a diesel truck. Instead of giving the surplus away from my garden I am canning it. Make more ammo as at some point we will have to shoot our way out of this quagmire
Let's go Brandon

It has taken a while to rethink how we did and do things, but here are our main changres Never ate out much so that is not a change Organize our trips so we have cut mileage by 40-50%. Had a bigger garden so more home raised food and we have access to home raised meat, veggies, fruits etc. Reviewing our utility costs including internet, TV, phones etc. along with heat and air. Due to my wife's surgery we cancelled all vacations this year and are staying close to home. Notice that many places are so short of help that checkout lines can be long, especially when there are issues with cards etc. We try to go during the low usage times, even with fewer lanes open, things go quicker. I am doing more food shopping now and I don't buy a lot of the ready made stuff, sliced or other processing as I do that at home. Things like cheese etc. are a lot cheaper in more bulk. Also watch for sales. We have some meat markets that have really big savings so we watch that closely. It is getting easier to follow and we may well continue well past this higher inflationary period. We are retired and have a higher percentage of discretionary monies than we did years ago and we are learning to manage that better.

I haven't read the replies yet, but if I think I'll need a fairly expensive item in the foreseeable future, I'm buying it NOW! (a year from now, it'll cost 20 percent more, IF you can get it!)
And I'm only considering items that are useful for procuring food or future trade items.
Think: Depression-era economics/thrift. I feel the same just bought a tractor and chainsaw. Get it while you can.

I'd never change my way of life. I was never part of the rat race so no need to change now.

I try to live frugally all the time so there's not a lot to cut out. I always shop sales at grocery stores and don't hesitate to go to 2 or even 3 stores to get sale items instead of just shopping at one. Kroger usually has some really good digital deals each week. Stock up on what's on sale and limit what I buy that's not on sale. Inconvenient until you get used to it but once you do you rarely ever run out of something and can't wait till the next sale of it. Utilize digital and/or paper coupons. Every Saturday Dollar General has a $5/25 coupon and I use that in conjunction with other digital coupons there and usually get all my laundry supplies then. Clearance shopping at Lowes, DG, and Walmart.
Mainly cutting down on gas. I try not to go to town on days I don't work... I used to often shop on my day off, but now I do it after work no matter how much I don't want to, lol. As was mentioned, fishing closer to home.
I hang all my laundry and don't use the dryer. I used to use the dryer on rainy days, but now I hang stuff inside to dry if it's raining. Haven't ran the dryer in months.
Do most of my cooking in the air fryer, crockpot or grill to avoid heating up the house. If I need to use the oven, I wait until a day I'm off and can bake first thing in the morning before it gets hot.
But it seems no matter how much you save, something else comes along to eat up money. Like this month... a bathtub needing replaced due to being cracked, and a hole in the drum of the washer. <sigh>.
