Went to the transfer station to unload some trash and the dump monitor insisted that I could not throw cardboard in the bin and had to take it to the recycling bin. I brought it back home and burned it. lol

Recycling has proven to not be exactly what they told us it is anyhow. Another lie. I think Cardboard is easily recyclable. Plastic not so much, from what I've read and watched on TV something like only 9% of plastic bottles are recycled no matter if they're sent in to be or not. Plastics #1 and #2 are the ones that are easily recycled after that, the other grades take much more energy and time to make it worthwhile. I remember when plastic bags came out instead of paper. The big reasoning behind it was they were going to be recyclable and paper was a waste of trees. Now it's about impossible to find a store around here that's still taking plastic bags for recycling like Wal Mart used to do. They had the big cardboard boxes into the entrance of the store you could put them in but they took them out with covid precautions and never brought them back around here. The trash company doesn't want them in with the recyclables and say that in their guidelines. the plastic bags have done a great job of decorating hedges, roadside ditches, woods and fence rows though. Flicker's right, we were told one thing and it turned out it was wrong. The environmentalists push for these laws to be enacted to save the planet and wind up doing far more harm than good and that's not going to change, because they don't have common sense. Plastic needs petroleum to be manufactured and where does that come from??

Recycling has proven to not be exactly what they told us it is anyhow. Another lie. Our VFW has a paper and cardboard recycling bin. They benefit from the money generated. The Catholic Church down the road also has one. Some places have curbside recycling bins. I have to haul it town. Not worth my time and effort. I just save it up until I take a trip to town, no hassle

I gave the kid that overlooks our trash place a box of 40 S&W when ammo was impossible to ge around here. Since then I don't even have to unload my truck myself. As soon as I stop he comes over and lends a hand and I can throw whatever I have in the crusher. No sorting required unless I want to.

I remember when recycling was all the rage. They gave everyone boxes to place their recyclables out with their trash. But the plastics had to be washed, the paper clean and dry, etc. and so most people didn't bother. Here in MS we don't have any of that. Maybe you could take recyclable objects to a place somewhere but I've not heard about it. Most people just throw everything in the trash can.
I recently went up to NY and they don't have plastic bags there. It felt like 1985 getting my groceries packed in a brown paper bag, lol.

They have multiple 10 yard bins here in town for re-cycle and a separate recycle trash pick up day....

I move my garbage and recycling bins about 10 feet every Thursday (recycling stuff every other Thursday). Ok, one recycling bin moves about 20+ feet...
