So we have this aggressive bird that sits and guards 6 feeders. Any other bird that comes along promptly gets run off. I'm thinking about removing it. Anybody done that?

Migratory bird. I wouldn’t ask on a forum. Just do what you need to do 😉

Then there will be a new boss of the feeder. I't just the way those little guys are.

No. Why would you want to do that? Another one will just replace it and do the same thing. What you are seeing is normal behavior. The others will still get their share.

Just spread your feeders farther apart.

Im sitting here watch our flock. The Rufus' try to be aggressive, but everyone gets a drink and life goes on. 6 feeders going through about 1 1/2 gallons a day.

I agree with the others. If you remove him a replacement will move in no time. Less than an hour.

It's migratory bird so be sure if you decide to relocate it. You use proper type non- toxic shot.. lmao I'd used 31/2 inch 10ga with biggest load of bismuth shot I could stuff threw an extra full choke. That at reasonable range should leave nothing to SSS... LMAO!

Price of ammo?? Do what my wife does. Put up several feeder.

Spreading the feeders out will help some. But if they are within sight of each other one bird will still try to guard all of them. Placing feeders on either side of the house works, until a second bird decides to guard one. There is no real way to stop them. If you'll watch closely you will notice that in the early morning or late evening they tend to get more friendly with each other. They want to fill up on breakfast and supper and can't do that and chase each other. Late in the year they also seem to spend less time fighting and more time feeding. Trying to build up reserves for their trip south takes priority over guarding a food source. The energy spent chasing each other off the feeder just doesn't seem worth it to them when they know they will need it soon.
