Fist, I have no idea how a snake can crawl up an 8 foot wall but it appears I have garter snakes in the attic of my garage. They are not inside the building itself, just the attic. Other than getting up there and going "hand to hand" is there anything that will chase them out and away?
I have nothing clever to put here.

I am having the garage re-roofed and the carpenters can see them crawling around on top of the insulation. I am tempted to just burn the building down. I don't care for snakes.

look up snake traps I see a bunch of people using minnow traps they catch a bunch of snakes and release the Gardner snakes
you probably want a cricket or something in a small container with some holes in there as bait I can't see that this guy is using any bait but he sets in run ways next to buildings
in another video he uses frogs and chicken eggs but that wouldn't be so much for a garder snake
searching snake traps I see a lot of glue board options basically just going for run ways
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

It's been my experience that the most likely to go up into structures is the rats. If so five bucks says you have a foodsource they are coming to. Rats, mice, bats, squirrels in my experience. Deal with that and the snakes go away.
However it could still be garters as they have communal dens for overwintering. Though I have no personal experience with that. It does seem to be to early on the year for that.

Yes, they are absolutely Garter Snakes and we saw several. There is no food source that I am aware of in the attic or garage and I have NEVER had a mouse inside.

I read somewhere that cloves and some other things like that repel them. Being the ridgecap was open I threw 4 bag's of Grandpa Gus mouse repellent in there that seems to contain many of the same ingredients. It was worth a shot.

Most females send out pheromones when it is time for the boys to come a play if there are several snakes present. The smell you can not mistake for sure
One time the power went out at the cottage and when it came back the stove clock made a tick-tick sound. Seems a large garter snake climbed up the inside of the stove to check it out......zap-zap when it went over the fuse box.
If there was bats up there then they were going for them as well is another idea.
Hot glue some crickets/hoppers on a # 1 pan

What fun is that when we could probably get him to burn the building down
The big glue traps work. A bit like blind setting for mink...choke them down (I know, I know....it scaled a wall to get there how can you choke it down). Use some cooking spray to release it. I HAVE had mice in the house as well as a "non target" snake...that's how I know this works.
