The All American line is probably the best made canners but wow, are they pricey!!
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

All American is considered top of the line. Very heavy gauge steel compared to other brands, and no parts that need replacing such as gaskets and over pressure plugs. BUT the one thing I hate about my AA canner is how long it takes the darn thing to cool down after you turn off the heat. When you're canning multiple batches, or you just canned the last batch at night and you want nothing more than your bed, waiting an hour to an hour and a half for the AA canner to cool down to zero so you can take your jars out SUCKS lol. My Presto 23qt gets down to zero in 15-20 minutes. It's a big difference.

Buy once, cry once. All American, you won't find a better one. I bought mine 20 years ago and have never had a problem.

All American are your bigger canners.I own a 941 and an AA sterilizer about the same size. Both were used and bought off E Bay.I like them but if you're just canning out of a small garden , you could be happy with a Presto.IMHO , buying old National canners , or old All American , are a better deal. You may need a seal every few years, but they will last forever , they were made to last.I'm not sure about the newer pressure canners. So I can't say anything for or against them.I just know my old canners are heavy , and about 1/2 inch thick if not more. They will be in my family long after I'm gone. They were built to last , like many thing made in the past.JMHO that I would look around for an older canner and National is what is now Presto.Seems all of them started in Wisconsin for some reason . Great Lakes shipping no doubt.I have noticed that I used to buy them for anywhere between $ 10 to $ 50 years ago , once in awhile you find one at that price now, but they seem to be a good investment. All my canners are worth more now than they were even 10 years ago. They aren't prettybut they do the same job and cost a whole lot less. And they will last a lot longer than the newer electric ones.Your choice , your kitchen .Put uparound 170 plus jars in less than 8 hours with family, of green beans. My favorite canner , an old National No. 14 pressure canner.14 Quarts per load.
Won't load the pictures for some reason.

My Presto 23qt gets down to zero in 15-20 minutes. It's a big difference. Really? I don't have that problem. I do turn off the heat 5 minutes early , but 1 1/2 hours , ? I do all my canning outside , with the big canners , because one you don't move them once loaded up. Two it's easier to load and unload them on a propane turkey fryer burner. Might be with air circulating around it, it cools faster. And if it's the last batch , it'll wait until morning. I don't believe in that flat sour idea , it never has been a problem with me, and have done it for over 20 years. Never had to wait that long to cool down. Again , it could be that I can outside , got sick and tired of the heat in the house. Plus there's more room to work in. Set up a table or two to cut things and pack the jars , room for as many burners as needed depending on what you're doing. A blanching pot and an ice water pot , pots for scraps and for the product to be canned. Plus you can have others to help and have a good time doing it. One canner load , is almost 3 of your canner loads also. The newer AA canners are stainless steel now or your choice ? Aluminum is thicker , but stainless looks better, and is easier to keep looking like new. What it comes down to is what you want , what you're used to doing , and do what you need to do to get it done. We never stop learning.

Canning is good but just remember that canning takes 1/3 of the nutritional value of that food away...I use a presto28.

Top of the line pressure canners have both gauges on them. A dial gauge and a weight gauge. When the dial gauge reads zero , just tip the weight a little, if you hear hissing , wait another 5 minutes and try again.

Just looked at All American website and about crapped my pants. To justify that kind of price you better be canning food for a army. I know it will last forever but my old Presto works fine. Did about 70 pints of beans so far.
WISH I HAD MORE TIME TO TRAP!

I bought a Mirro-matic at a rummage sale for $5. It has served me well for the last 30 years. Just pulled a batch of beets out of it tonight. Still using the seal that came with it.

Canning is good but just remember that canning takes 1/3 of the nutritional value of that food away...I use a presto28. Which is still far healthier then anything you buy from grocery store though
