Very sure, it's the same thing that happened to the other S10 and that thing had a good transmission.

Those 4.3s were really strong motors. If it threw the belt and overheated, you would probably just need to do head gaskets and fix why the belt threw. That vintage truck is rare, with the Obama destruction program.

If the motor is junk, you could always stuff a small block in there.

I haven't looked much at it as I was just listening to what the friend's dad who owns the auto body and mechanic shop right next to us said and the same thing happened to the other one.

I threw my traps in a basket and hiked for many miles setting out my line. I always harvested some game for dinner a long the way. You can become one with nature this way. It's better than riding in a truck.

My dad has been teaching me as much as he can when a problem arises, sadly our school doesn't provide an auto shop class. I'm in town so it would be quite a few miles of walking just to set my first trap.

If the belt is gone, spin all the pulleys by hand, all should spin freely, except the crank. If one doesn't then that is why the belt is gone.
Check the oil, is there coolant in it? it'll look like a milkshake if there is. If not, pressure test the cooling system, This will tell you if the head gasket is blown, or there are other leaks in the cooling system.

I was thinking broken water pump belt also , overheating didn't make sense otherwise

also is it a blown engine like a rod though the oil pan or blown head-gasket

head gaskets were fairly common on some of the gm v6 especially if you got them over heated

Haven't taken much of a look at it but the dipstick was covered in metal fragments when we checked it and it wasn't leaking any oil. We'll have to check it out one of these days but we've been pretty busy.

Metal on the dipstick is not good. This motors were tough, you killed it good, sounds like.

Time to learn how to replace main bearings.

We were thinking about throwing a 350 in it and just getting rid of all the electronics and everything and just using it for a killing wagon, oil is full of metal shaving and fragments. Haven't dropped oil yet but will look into it further when we get the time.

We figured that it wasn't too good, I haven't gotten a video of what it sounds like yet but will try to when I move it later today.

I wouldn't even run it. Try turning the crank on it with a big breaker bar. If it doesn't move smooth, next step is to drop the pan and check the crank.

If there really is metal on the dipstick, probably just get a rebuild/replacement lined up before pulling anything.

I have to move it somehow and get it so it's not in the way, I just checked the oil and it's shiny like metal and you can see it on the rag.

If I was serious about keeping that truck, I would find a salvage engine and go through it. Car-part.com lists salvage yards and will rate the condition of the part and mileage.

The truck has a very very good chance of being sold as we just got a different truck, so that way we didn't have to stress even more when season came.

I did already find a replacement truck and it's sitting in the driveway waiting to get a topper put on it and then it's ready for season.

That's the way I look at it, someone asked me yesterday in school how I was still so happy even with having a truck with a blown engine and I said the same thing, "at least I didn't roll it onto its lid".

very very loose gravel , so loose the cops spun out responding ,he swerved to miss a big bore coon.
when he told me that I said really you killed like 50 this year already with a gun one more was going to be an issue !
I was afraid I would mess up the truck.
yeah how is that working for you
so the lesson is hit the coon save the tuck

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I know, a sophomore around here rolled their vehicle on its lid earlier this year and they were all fine but it was bad.

Won't have to worry about it now, I got a different one that's way nicer and should last me through high school and then some. I keep forgetting to take pictures of it but I will do that tomorrow and post them here.

Check the oil often …yah know ,with the dip stick…check tranny fluid ,with the dip stick ( while the engine is running in park.

Check hoses …belts…

Stuff that a16 year old knows nothing about.

Have your dad or an uncle or someone …show you .how to check all these things.

Yep, do that every couple of days or so, dad shows me what to look for and teaches me these things. I'm 14 just so you know, not 16.
