Pokeweed -"The plant sap can cause dermatitis in sensitive people."

both arms any where that the sap landed when I weed wacked several of them.

I guess Monday it is long sleeves , gloves and a shower right after I pull them all from my yard happy labor day.

I've had poke weed greens like that with bacon grease drizzled on it. It's okay flavored, but not something I would probably ever make myself.

The root balls get immense.

Lambsquarter is by far my favorite wild edible green. One of Diane's friends calls lambsquarter "God's free spinach".

I like purslane and wood sorrel in small amounts in salads.

330, FWIW, in my area, there is a difference between the 2 plants. Red root pigweed & lamb's quarters . Both picked when young, 2 - 4 leaves are some mighty fine eating greens. I cook them with some cubed salt pork. Enjoy........ Tut

Thats an awefully young poke for the time of year unless its been mowed constantly. Usually by now its 6ft+ tall, berries are rippe and laughs at string weed eaters.
