I do. How do you know what you do is not fate? I am faithful in the Lord and since he made me the way I am - he made my fate. I believe God has a plan - or you may believe there is no God. Which is bad for you when you die and are being judged by him. It's too late then. And then - is that your fate?

For those that are truly in GOD, I believe he allows us to make choices, good and bad but controls things according to his will. Thus Romans 7: 14 - 20 shows that in the flesh we do things, and in the spirit we do things. Yet for those that are truly in GOD, he controls the end results. I can say for myself that I have and will continue to do things contrary to God while in the flesh. And will suffer consequences, but GOD always allows me to Repent and has always brought the end result back to his will. The human mind wants to understand all things, and when we can't, we do not want to accept it, without understanding. But we can not know what GOD thinks and why, I just have to accept it.

Why would somebody who believes in fate, or who is a Calvinist, still use a climbing rope when mountain climbing or wear a seatbelt while driving? After all, if everything is predetermined by fate there should be no need for such safety devices. Your time to die is only going to happen when it was predetermined if you believe in fate/Calvinism.

Make your calling and election sure...don't trifle with God. That doesn't answer my question though. A person doesn't need to be trifling with God, they just might not be too smart and be making bad choices.

I think the big thing that bothers most people about the doctrine of election is that it takes things out of their control. Their salvation in particular and it's completely understandable. Having said that, the doctrine is clearly laid out, start to finish, throughout the Bible.
Man is free to sin in his natural state, but that's all he is capable of until the sovereign Spirit of God does a work in his heart. Completely agree with your last paragraph. And then man must choose to either submit and repent or rebel.

I sure am looking forward to sitting around in heaven poking fun at each other's silly ideas we had in this life. I'm pretty sure we will all deserve some kidding. I'm sure happy we've gotten away from burning fellow Christians at the stake for different theological interpretations.

I don't believe in fate, but IF you believe the Bible, it says repeatedly that God directs what happens in our life, even though we have and exercise our own free will.
Prov. 19:21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Prov. 16:9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.
Psalm 139:16 all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be
Isaiah 46:10-11 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.
I Chron 29 Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.
From Job 12: 13 “To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his. 14 What he tears down cannot be rebuilt; those he imprisons cannot be released. 15 If he holds back the waters, there is drought; if he lets them loose, they devastate the land. 16 To him belong strength and insight; both deceived and deceiver are his. 17 He leads rulers away stripped and makes fools of judges. 18 He takes off the shackles put on by kings and ties a loincloth around their waist. 19 He leads priests away stripped and overthrows officials long established. 20 He silences the lips of trusted advisers and takes away the discernment of elders. 21 He pours contempt on nobles and disarms the mighty. 22 He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings utter darkness into the light. 23 He makes nations great, and destroys them; he enlarges nations, and disperses them. 24 He deprives the leaders of the earth of their reason; he makes them wander in a trackless waste. 25 They grope in darkness with no light; he makes them stagger like drunkards.
But, if you don't believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible, I guess that doesn't mean much.
What from Christ that soul can sever, Bound by everlasting bands? None shall take thee From the Strength of Israel's hands.

Which side of this discussion would these events fall under. In Lexington Ky few years back a pregnant lady was headed to her place of work. Walking along the side walk . A woman was parking in a parking garage the lady was walking beside. The lady parking just tapped the concrete barrier with her front bumper and a section fell on the pregnant woman crushing her. . OK so first 1 second sooner or 1 later she doesn't get hit. The parking lady is one spot over the wall doesn't fall. If that is not fate then what is it. IT WAS HER TIME TO DIE ..... https://www.fox19.com/story/4912843/falling-concrete-kills-pregnant-woman-in-lexington/

I suppose the question is equivalent to the theological question; freewill vs. predestination. I lean towards freewill, not fate. I believe in free will, and l also believe in fate. From a small child I have believed in God. I've also lived a sinful life, the life I've lived was by my will. Then God called me to change, I thought it was my doing through prayer, I've come to realize that the lord has been with me every step of the way. Giving me the free will to make my own decisions write or wrong. All of the experiences I've had good and bad, trials and tribulations. I believe we're fate, God's guiding hand stearing the weal in the Wright direction. A life of schooling until my convictions caused me to listen and pray for understanding. Then I died!! The old me any way, seems like fate. Sage.
